Hi Shezhoping, you have been busy!!! Good on ya, I wish I had that sort of motivation at the moment but just don't. I think I need a break from it all, but just can't get my head around not trying after all these years trying, if you know what I mean.

And yip its a day 23 blood test for me, I have a slightly longer cycle so guess thats why its Day 23 and not 21. My last progesterone test came back at 40 and they thought that was a little low? Maybe too low to maintain the pg is what they meant? I will find out.

I have heard good things re the vitex and I was quite keen to start some natural remedies too but the drs at FA advised me too to take anything until after the TER, so waiting waiting!!

Good luck with the job hunting, that can be a daunting experience all by itself, let alone TTC at the same time! I hope something comes along for you soon.

Scaredycat,  from what I understand... the progesterone test is done 7 days before AF... if it is over 10 it means you ovulated that cycle.

From googling,  1st trimester levels of 10 - 90 are normal.  But I am sure your specialists know what they are talking about

I also found out that definitely do not take Vitex with IVF treatment.

With the great news of Shopa and Kasper's BFPs, I am getting excited for you lol.

Sorry ladies I'm just a lurker....my progesterone levels were 20 at the start of this pg with the specialist said was too low to sustain a pregnancy (I was under specialist care for recurrent m/c) so was put on progesterone pessaries for the first 10 weeks...looks like it worked for me

Hey minik8e, yes it certainly does look like it worked for you, congrats on the twins, lots and lots of fun, wow I would love to have twins, instant family!! It does actually run in our family too but I think it comes through the male side doesn't it?

Thats interesting re your progesterone levels as I was taking the pessaries (lovely things that they are!!) too but unfort didn't help me, oh well, here's hoping the blood test can figure out whats what and will hopefully have better luck next time.

Nope, it comes from the female side....there's a thread in general about how it all works. These two heffalumps are identical too, so yeah.

That bites I have to admit I was on baby aspirin, 5mg folic acid and the progesterone pessaries, but I seem to have no problem actually getting pg, only keeping them. Fingers crossed everything goes well for you next time!!

Hi minik8e, that is fantastic that you are preggies with two!!  Here's wishing you and babas lots of health and happiness

Scaredycat, funny thing was that I enjoyed the progesterone because it made me feel relaxed and had some nice early nights from the sleepiness lol.

As for me, I have an appointment with Fert+ on Monday and see what options they may have for us.  Also AF should arrive on that day too, so a fresh new cycle to TTC!

Ooooohhh thats great it comes from the female side as its my side that has the twins, wahoo, that would be sooooo great! I think I get an option of replacing more than one embryo too this time, so that might be worth a go.

And thats good news Shezhoping re your Fert + appointment, its good to get the ball rolling again especially in a brand new cycle (although with your charting and everything, you may not need it, fingers crossed for you!!).

I didn't have any affects from the progesterone, bummer missed out on all the good stuff by the looks of it, typical!

hi Scaredycat,  it was basically just a follow up appointment.  In my heart I was hoping that they would be able to do another publicly funded assisted ivf , but because I was lucky to get the one (being 39 when I was accepted) they said the next one would have to be privately funded.   They did say it would only be $8k and there would be no waiting.  We cannot afford it...

My doctor has given me clomid (I havent tried that route yet).  I will give it a go for next cycle because we are going away for Easter weekend and don't want to be emotional (apparently clomid does that) during that time.

How are you doing?  what cycle day are you on?

I was thinking that you should trying charting/temping.  Specially during your ivf, because progesterone makes your temperature rise during the second half of your cycle and it will give you an idea how you are doing?  Sorry if I am being imposing...

Hi Shezhoping and , I'm sorry to hear they aren't able to assist you with another public funded round, thats just doesn't seem fair, its such a hard road, I know if we didn't qualify we certainly wouldn't be able to afford it either, hence the huge wait we have had to endure.

I have my fingers crossed for you though that the Clomid does the trick. I was actually surprised to read that you hadn't tried that yet, my specialist made me to nine months before even referring me to FA, unfort it didn't help me but I have heard of others that it has helped, so good luck. The only major side affect I had from Clomid was huge headaches but only when excersing or heart was pumping (sometimes at the most inconvenient of times, if you get my meaning!!)

And no your def not being imposing, I am going to try charting and temping next month, I am on about Day 25 and haven't heard back from my blood results from FA yet which I hope will give them some indication of whats what. I might ring them tomorrow if I still haven't heard.

Scaredycat, it is disappointing.  My old gp was a bit slack and didnt seem to know much bout fertility and the procedure for ivf.  A friend who had gone on the ivf route told me to go straight to FA, which I did and Dr Birdsall told me that because I was (then) 39 I only just scraped in on the list and you know the rest of the story lol.

I have changed my GP and she seems more informed and helpful.

Yea, give AF a call to see what your results are and you might be able to find out when your TER is.... let me know what they say

Hi Shezhoping, I'm going Ok, getting nervous, excited and scared all at the same time, about three weeks until Day 1 again for me, they still haven't decided whether I'm doing a manufactured or natural cycle so not too sure what to expect.

My blood tests results didn't really tell them anything apart from the fact that I did ovulate, great!

How's things with you? I see by your ticker you must be in the 2WW? When do start the Clomid?

Hi Scaredycat,  I remember those feeling well....     But maybe it will be easier next time round because you know what you are doing?

How many embies are you putting back?

I will start Clomid next cycle ... if this one doesn't work.

Did you see that article last night about the ivf refund scheme... sounds reasonable!!  (for those under 39)

Hi Shezhoping, I'm sure its going to be a breeze, I think most of the nervousness is about the outcome, not the procedure!!!

At this stage the Dr's recommend only one back in, but have left that part of the form blank, so will see how many defrost ok etc and prob decide on the day, although my DP is away at the time and I will prob be a total wreck by then!!

Good luck for this cycle, I hope the charting and temps etc has done the trick for you!! To tell you the truth I decided not to temp and chart for this month, I'm sorta taking a break from all the pressure and getting my head in the right space for the transfer instead.

And no I didn't see the article last night re IVF refund scheme, what was that about?

hi Scaredycat,

That is a difficult choice to make... when I started out I only wanted one put back because I didnt want to be a first time mother with two babies.  But then I decided to put in two so that if one doesn't implant then the other one might implant!   Actually on the day of the egg collection I asked them if they could put back three (to improve the chances) lol

I found this re the IVF refund scheme...

http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2345096/A-baby-or-your-cash-back

but I think that the  government assisted schemes may change to three chances sometime soon anyway...

Hi Shezhoping, yeah I know what you mean re putting two back and then havings twin as a first time mother but at this stage I really don't mind at all!

I guess I will see what the Drs say on the day and how well they defrost etc.

And thanks for the link, thats really interesting. We are in a position we can't afford even one IVF privately so we consider ourselves really lucky to be able to get public funding and going out to three cycles is just fantastic (here's hoping don't need to though!!)

Keep me posted with your progess on the temping and charting.
