Topic: How long do you wait Posted: 20 May 2008 at 11:29pm |
Before you go to the toilet after BDing?
I dont want to leave it too long because I dont want to risk getting a UTI or other infection. Having said that, I dont want to go too early either!

There was talk about this awhile ago. And I remember most women saying about half an hour.
Myself, I just stayed in bed for as long as I wanted. I've never had a UTI in my life from staying in bed after sex so it was never an issue.
If fact this last month that I got preg, I did get up to go to the ensuite to get some tissue paper to blow my nose, then got back in bed....and that was the time I think I conceived!
Good luck!

If it's at night time, I just fall asleep afterwards haha, then when I wake up needing to pee in the middle of the night I get up. If it's in the morning before work, I just stay in bed till DH finishes in the shower then I get up (so about 30mins)

I think when we were TTC I left it 20 mins and did the feet up the wall trick (hey, it worked!) but I have had UTI's before from not going to pee, so I always did. Plus I can't stand sleeping in a wet patch anymore, don't know how I used to. Ew

LOL emz - even after going to the loo the wet patch can sometimes be there and isnt it funny how its always on OUR side of the bed???
As far as I know 20 mins is usually long enough...

I go straight away because I had kidney reflux and get constant uti's and I have managed to get preg 4 times all up So I guess its no hard and fast rule
*Also* Am I the only one who changes the sheets straight after? I kick DP out of bed and change them, thought everyone did No wonder he used to think I was weird.

Thanks ladies.
lol neoshasmummy!! Thats classic! Nope I cant say that I change the sheets everytime, but thats very organised of you .
I too also get UIT's if I dont pee as well, and I want to avoid it as much as possible because I cant function when I have the darn thing. So painful!!
Emma thats a brilliant idea lol .... I had never thought of putting my legs up the wall! I do put a pillow under my hips and bum though.

No changing sheets here lol.
And I am a peer, I have kidney/bladder/UTI issues so it's a no brainer for me.

LOL we did the legs up wall to conceive our first,,,but wasn't up the wall....lol I was lying upside off the bed lmao
NeoshasMummy - my daughter used to get kidney reflux but when she was only 2yrs she had a bilateral reimplantation of the urethras and never looked back!
As for the sticky patch.....guess thats the advantage of a super king size bed.....plenty of room lol

I have to say, I went to the loo if i needed to, otherwise I stayed in bed.
The night we conceived this little one, I stayed in bed... but we hadnt BD'd for a while so I was a bit tired

Once a week sheet cleaning is enough for me. I stick a towel under me (when I can), that solves the wet patch issue. At the moment I have one towel rolled up to pop under my hips and the other to catch any drips When we inseminate at night I usually just curl up on my side and drift off into sleepy land. In the mornings I read my book for about 30 minutes before getting up. I also find that if I have an orgasm right after insemination then I have very little drips to worry about. Also, in the sex draw I have some baby whips to clean up messes and wipe down toys so I don't have to worry about them right away, very handy.

lol!! Thanks for your comments ladies. Must say this has been rather entertaining
Tracey wipes are a great idea... We have tissues and just usually put a pile of them under my butt! May start using towels to save the trees .

I used to get UTI's heaps too, but it hasn't been a problem while TTC so far! dammit now I've said that I just know I'll get one
And as for wet patches... I just keep my undies around one ankle and quickly pull them up afterwards so nothing gets on the sheets and then change my undies when I get round to getting up, hehe

Oh, the sex towel!
I seriously recommend the feet up the wall thing, just think gravity ladies! Let's face it, men aren't the most intelligent creatures, so you can't expect their swimmers to be either
OMG Phat_Cat, that is so true! I even got so frustrated that I used to wriggle over while we were BDing to try and get it on his side but alas DH caught on to that little trick.
I'm sick, but I kind miss the messiness of it all! Condoms till October..
