Grr, I have a man who just doesn't get it either...
I sometimes (not often) ask him to look after Anton while I get some paperwork done, and as soon as he gets a little tiny grizzle, he gets dumped back on me saying "nothing works, he must be hungry". And DH cannot seem to remember that nappies need to be changed several times a day, not just once (and then only when I remind him).
He also does no housework or cooking at the moment.
They don't understand mastitis either, do they? Last time I started to get really sore boobs I went straight to lie down and rest, and he kept coming in and asking "aren't you going to finish the gardening?". Argh, don't know how I put up with him really! (just kidding, he does have one or two good points in there somewhere).
My husband stopped making comments like this after the last school holidays (he's a teacher) when him and I took turns being sick, so he had all three on his own for a couple of days while I slept... since then he's realised that getting a load or two of washing done and out, keeping the children fed, watered and changed (and dry in the case of the boys who seem to gravitate towards every puddle!), making sure the boys get their sleeps as appropriate, stopping the fighting, and staying on top of the day's dishes is enough!
