My 12 week old was doing so well - I'd express the odd feed for him (since 5 weeks of age) and he'd take the bottle from Nana, aunty, Dad... whoever basically.
Now, for some reason, he won't. He won't suck or take the bottle from ANYONE - just screams until he's purple and I get a call to come back from the supermarket, or wherever, and calm him with a breastfeed.
It's not the milk - we've tried it with an eyedropper and a teaspoon and he laps it up. We've even gone and tried different teats. No change.
Why has my baby suddenly done this and how can we get back to bottle feeding? I have to go back to work in January for a few days - this is going to be a disaster if we can't get him to take it!!

They go through silly stages like that. Have you tried a sipper bottle? I got one for Daniel the other day and its bright red (seems to be his fav colour) and I put water in it for him and he loves it whereas he won't drink water from one of his normal bottles.

i'm sorry hun....

we went through exactly this with jack when he was the same age. he started having bottles every now and again from 3-4wks old and had no troubles taking them, then all of a sudden without warning, he refused. no matter what teat, bottle, different people, me out of the room, nothing seemed to make a difference. then after couple of months of trying, he took a bottle!!!

this is of course, no help what-so-ever

Hi - my wee boy is now completely bottle fed, but when we were having problems with b/f and trying to get him sorted on the bottle as well, Plunket recommended a ChuChu teat. It is shaped / designed similar to a nipple with a valve that means that have to suckle to get the milk out. They are used in NICUs and hospitals quite a bit. Not sure where you can get them from - I bought mine from the Plunket Family centre. Might be worth giving your local plunket centre a call to see if they have them.
