It is shaped / designed similar to a nipple with a valve that means that have to suckle to get the milk out. They are used in NICUs and hospitals quite a bit. Not sure where you can get them from - I bought mine from the Plunket Family centre. Might be worth giving your local plunket centre a call to see if they have them.

Have you tried a sipper bottle? I got one for Daniel the other day and its bright red (seems to be his fav colour) and I put water in it for him and he loves it whereas he won't drink water from one of his normal bottles.

    Author: misty
Subject: 13118
Posted: 21 December 2007 at 2:26pm

My 12 week old was doing so well - I'd express the odd feed for him (since 5 weeks of age) and he'd take the bottle from Nana, aunty, Dad... whoever basically.
Now, for some reason, he won't. He won't suck or take the bottle from ANYONE - just screams until he's purple and I get a call to come back from the supermarket, or wherever, and calm him with a breastfeed.
It's not the milk - we've tried it with an eyedropper and a teaspoon and he laps it up. We've even gone and tried different teats. No change.
Why has my baby suddenly done this and how can we get back to bottle feeding? I have to go back to work in January for a few days - this is going to be a disaster if we can't get him to take it!!
