Oh yeah, 11.11 on a clock! That one drives me nuts actually!

I used to be superstitious about the ladder one, but it always seemed every time I walked around the ladder I'd slip over or trip so I gave up that one and no accidents.

the salt thing is a pinch of salt over the shoulder for good luck.
rachel ray does it all the time, and always says "salt over the shoulder for luck"

I thought i was totally mental but it seems a lot of us share the number quirk - mine have to be an even number! In the same area, but not superstition related prices that make no sense annoy me to no end - things that are $12.23 or something, whats wrong with $12.20 or $12.30?

The only real thing i've been spooked by is shortly after my dad dying a fantail (which arent common at all here, its actually the only one i've seen since i lived here) flying into his room and hanging out for half an hour or so. It sat on the bed above his side, the wardrobe door and the bedside table on his side.

I thought the superstition was a fantail in the house brings death and was quite worried about who was next but after some investigation found that they are also believed to carry spirits who want to say goodbye.

I know that sounds mad, but it was nice for me at the time to think he'd found away to let us know hes ok, even though he'd laugh at me for thinking it.

Oh, we always get fantails after someone dies, plus doors randomly locking/unlocking, gates opening/closing...

I have the same thing with the number 13... like if it's the volume I change it (but 12 and 14 are good luck), I can't look at the exercycle timer thing during the 13th minute (if I do I have to watch until it turns to 14)... I use to be far worse when I worked full time on the computer and I saw the wee clock in the corner had a 13 I had to watch until it changed - drove me a little crazy. If I stop the microwave early and it's on 13 I will turn it on again for another second etc etc...

mum to 3 lovely girls :D

Knock on wood is about it for us.

I figured shoe shops with there tables of shoes must be responsible for the national road toll. Hence the not worried about new shoes on tables any more.

I don't walk under ladders incase something falls on me. Usually there is someone up there with paint or a hammer. Just common sense on that one.

I do the toilet roll thing...but only because my nana (who is blind) once mentioned that when the end is against the wall, she can't feel where it starts and ends, whereas if it's hanging down away from the wall, she can

I do the "touch wood" thing and that's really it.

Haha this is gold!

I always knock on wood if I say something is going well.

I also do the touch white when I see a ambulance thing, regardless of if its lights are going. It becomes hard if your in the car with someone else and don't want to seem like an idiot, so I just touch my teeth LOL.

I see the 11.11 thing everywhere too - I read that it is meant to be good luck and that the angels are watching you!

OMG the toilet roll thing, I do it too - change it everywhere! Haha. But I have it so it comes down against the wall - what way do you girls do it? My Mum always tells me off because I'm forever changing hers! Haha. Once I had a hard time at this toilet because I went to change it and it wouldn't change, but I had it in my head that since I had started to change it over I just had to finish it - I nearly broke the bloody holder trying to do it, was in the loo for about 5 minutes hahahahaha

i have it against the wall too. it bugs me when its roll side out as if it gets bumped as we have to do some kind of foreign bum shuffle dance to get out of the toilet door the whole roll unrolls itself onto the floor otherwise

Toilet paper NEVER against the wall & I will always change it...ha ha.

A friend worked as a maid & they were told the correct way to do the toilet paper was away from the wall & you fold under the 2 ends to make a point (V) & that is the mark of class & they also put little chocolates on pillows...but I just do the toilet paper

I do the salt over my shoulder, dont walk under ladders, raise my feet going over railway tracks or when i hear a train (no idea why though), dont stir with a knife or pick up a knife i've dropped, dont put new shoes on the table, if i put a top on inside out get someone else to take it off for me, dont cut nails on Fridays or Sundays....ummm i could go on and on. My mother is nuts and has passed everything on to me. Drives DH CRAZY haha
