Disposable nappy manufacturer Kimberly-Clark (NZ) Ltd says that whilst the manufacturers, promoters and users of cloth nappies celebrate their chosen nappy type during Real Nappy Week, the real nappy for parents is the one that their baby is happiest with.

Certain other websites are getting their knitted knickers in a knot about this. I just see it that Huggies have just told thousands of Kiwi parents that there IS an alternative to sposies!

strange... I wonder where on earth they get their "96%" from... I don't see "does your child wear cloth or disposable nappies" on the census... so I would be interested in knowing where they took their samples from.

It's probably less than 96% and decreasing if Kimberly Clark are so worried about issuing multiple press releases about how wonderful disposables are.

On their website they even have a rebuttal for the "wasted" TV3 program.

I did a survey and a week long nappy diary for AC Neilsen about a month ago on disposables. I suspect it was for Kimberly Clark since I got some Huggies shea butter moisturiser from the lady at the completion of it. Bit of a bummer for them though since I am almost 100% cloth so the nappy diary had 7-10 changes a day and none of them were 'sposies.

Kimberley Clark have weird as surveys. I've seen them in one of the New Worlds here in Palmy asking shoppers if they wish to take part in a survey and they stand by the nappies and ask parents buying them if they use sposies all the time or just some of the time. They don't know what to do if you tell them you don't at all lol.

I just have a personal grievance against Kimberly Clarke after being personally attacked by one of their marketing gurus. It was a year ago and I'm still angry about it!

Misleading statistics piss me right off.

But atleast they must be feeling the pinch to have to release a media statement!

Their marketing dude is my dad's neighbour and he came over when they moved in for a visit and dad was all "oh look nikki - it's the enemy!" (thanks dad. you arse.) and then the guy preceded to drill me on my environmental practices and lecture me about waste water etc.

Wanker.

I didn't say a thing about disposables!!

I'd love to know what the figures are for the carbon foot print of cloth Vs sposie (production and use). I know which my money would be on

I'm not sure why but these days when I see disposables in trolleys it feels kind of strange, especially when it's several large packets, it like I've forgotten that people do that! (I am however using a few at night these days!).

When I was a Honey Child agent, I felt so guilty if I happened to be buying disposables for whatever reason, and really worried one of my customers would see them!
