I think you should keep eating them if that's what you feel like and that's what makes you feel better. If it's not making you sick, then I don't see why you should stop! I would assume that you are heating through properly.
No offence to anyone else, but I think some people go WAY overboard. I know it's personal choice and what it is you feel comfortable with, but I think we are led to believe a whole lot more things are bad for us that actually are.
Sorry, just rambling. am hormonal..

I think I would tend to disagree with you on that one. All any of us can do is take the best information we can find and then use that to make the best decisions we can. Those decisions aren't the same for everyone, but that doesn't mean they're 'wrong' or 'overboard'.
As for things we're told are bad for us that actually aren't - well, think of all the things our mothers did when they were pregnant with us, or we were babies. Sure, we all survived, despite them eating listeria-risk foods and drinking alcohol etc - but since more information has come out about what's safe and what isn't the rate of stillbirths, miscarriages and SIDS has been dropping and I don't think anyone will argue that it's not a good thing. For me personally, if there's the smallest chance that avoiding something that *might* be bad during pregnancy helps keep my son safe, then that's a good enough reason for me. I can live without it for nine months. Others will decide differently, and that doesn't mean they're going overboard or being irresponsible, they're just doing what they can to make the right decisions for themselves and their babies.

Here Here Mikaela - my thoughts exactly, some people think I am going to far with things - especially not dying my hair and eating soft cheeses but I dont want to put bubs at any risk - she is only in here for 9 months and I want to do the best by here

All of our grandparents and even some mothers would not have been told not to eat this or that and we are all fine
I know its definately a personal choice and im not saying anyone is wrong. But i mean there is ALOT of things that we are not supposed to eat and personally i think that its all about moderation.
Yeah, if your eating seafood or sushi every day.. sure, anyone could get sick or whatever. but im sure every now and then (like a couple times during pregnancy) its not going to hurt.
Good on you if you dont touch any of it. I have actually not touched alot of things and i havnt dyed my hair (as much as ive wanted to!).
There are some things i just cant resist. Like coffee. I told myself i wouldnt touch it but i did lol.

Which is why I said this:

With regard to eating seafood and sushi etc in moderation - each to their own, but it makes no sense to me when you can get listeriosis from eating one mouthful of infected food. Moderation doesn't really come into it.

oh my gosh I want it so much that even the animated one on the Snax ad makes my mouth water
I've decided that I'm going to make my own sushi just so I can have that (luckily I don't like smoked salmon anyway)

You have to remember that in our parents and grandparents days food was prepared fresh and eaten fresh, there was a lot less variety in terrms of deli foods, there were very few takeaways and people cooked and stored their own foods.
the prevalence of the various food poiosnings is increasing hugely every year and NZ has some of the worst cases. Some of that has to do with the lackadasical approach storage and handling of food - pellets of deli foods (or other things requiring refridgeration dumped by the delivery trucks outside supermarket loading bays inthe sun etc.
The best anyone can do is make an informed choice. For some, they will cut out a lot more than others becasue that is what makes them feel comfortable. Others feel ok cutting out less foods.
My rule of thumb has been if it is going to make me feel guiilty afterwards, i won't eat it.

The day I had Kate I got Mum to bring me a fresh baguette with ham and brie (yes a whole baguette!!!), a can of coke and a custard square. After labour/birth it was without a doubt the best meal I have ever eaten
Since then I have had tonnes of ham rolls, brie, blue vein cheese, supermarket cooked chook, red bull, pate, medium rare steak, runny eggs, takeout indian, chinese and a chicken burger! The last 2 weeks have been listeria mad for me, not to mention not at all helpful when it comes to shifting the baby weight...
I can't wait to come back to NZ and get proper indian, a proper kebab, burger fuel, oporto and chicken sushi "insert Homer Simpsons drool sound here"
I totally agree its each to their own about they eat. I always bit my tongue when I saw pregnant friends eating things I chose not to so I got really annoyed how people felt they had a right to tell me how 'silly' I was being for chosing not to eat the higher risk foods. IMO it was that I would never ever forgive myself if something happened and for the want of not eating certain foods for a few months it seemed like a pretty small sacrifice.

Are we not allowed frozen pizza from the supermarket? We have had it a few times at home, and i figured it was ok cause i cooked it from forzen till it was piping hot in the oven - and therefore killing off any listeria bugs in the process.
Please someone tell me if we can't have this? I honestly thought it was ok....

I've eaten frozen pizza a few times too. My obstetrician said it was fine as long as it was cooked properly and eaten straight away.

I never said you couldn't have frozen pizzas, I just said "personally for me" I have had bad experiences in the past and wanted to avoid that during pregnancy for me. Everyone makes their own choices with the information they have, past experiences etc etc. It's up to the individual what they do or don't eat.
