Turning around the car seat

DD is 11 and a half months, is it safe to turn her around yet? she is about 10kg and driving me crazy crying cause she can see us in the car!
I wanted to leave her as long as possible, but can't handle it much longer, when did you turn your car seat around?

Theres quite a lot of literature floating about on why it would be best to keep your DD rear facing for as long as possible (there's a really good thread here)

Have you tried a mirror so she can see you??

mmm I so want to keep her rear facing, but she literally screams and cries after about 10min in the car, she will hardly ever go to sleep in the car unless really tired. Maybe the mirror is a good idea then, I always start the journey with a pile of toys on the front seat and pass them (and food) over one by one

Ok now after reading the thread recommended above I feel so bad for thinking it was time to turn her around! And I really like the sound of the sunshine radian car seat, can anyone tell me if they work in a Nissan 4x4? what does it mean by without the use of a seatbelt?
How long does it take to install? We very regularly move the seat from car to car and can do it in a few min with the safe n sound.

if your car has LATCH (i thnk they are in most new cars from 2002?) then you can use that to secure the carseat instead of using the seatbelt.

I am getting one and cant wait to get one. I love that it not only rearfaces to 20kgs (have seen a 4 year old still RF;ing in it, who is tall for her age) but that it is FF'ing in a 5 point harness to 36kgs :)

Don't feel bad skp - been there, done that! I think it's a phase they often go through about that stage. We FFed Dan at about 13 months, then turned him back at about 16 months, till just recently (reached the weight limit for RF). He was quite happy with going back to being RF which I was quite surprised about. Lots of books, toys, food etc might all help, also keep an eye on the sun angle as it seems to become more problematic as they get taller. The mirror might be a good idea too.

Thanks SO much for the info here. DS is 10.5 months and looks as though he will just make it to 12 months in his capsule. We just bought a maxi rider II in the Farmers sale, which is forward facing only. I really wish I'd seen this thread earlier! They have said they will consider a refund but they are not obliged so it will probably just be a store credit, and then we have decided to go for the Radian.

Yes, I know. He's not really wee, but his head is still below the level, although not now by a huge amount. We have an Evenflo Discovery which seemed to be one of the larger capsules available, which is one of the reasons we chose it (so I could justify to DH buying rather than hiring one).
