Topic: How much time spent on the net? Posted: 23 March 2010 at 4:25pm |
How much time during the day do you spend on the net? and how much is too much?
I am starting to think I spend too much time on the net. Its not normally for long lengths of time but more lots of short periods of time (10 minutes here 1/2 hour there) which in turn add up and also there are so many things I could be doing instead, like housework YUCK! I really on go to FB and OB and then read the news on the Herald or Stuff sites.
I am going to monitor the time I spend on here over the next few days and see how much it adds up to, I think I will be shocked at how much time it actually adds up to, and what I could be doing with that time!
Please tell me I am not the only one.....please!

I'm on and off a lot during the day.. Will often walk past and shove the mouse to see if anything pops up... Our computer runs through the tv though so if I'm watching TV then I'm not on at all.
I spend my day pottering, doing various things, so hop on and off in between. I do a bit of work on the computer aswell so am often distracted doing that aswell, I'm terrible!

yes im the queen of procastination and the compter is a big distraction when i should be cleaning the house , esspecially when amelias down for her nap i tend to pop on alot , not so much when shes awake because i have to keep a constant eye on her - she gets into everything at the moment !!!! ah well i shall be back at work in may so i may as well make the most of being at home and having the freedom to pop on and off as i please .

Definitely not the only one. I do alot of course work online since half of the content is online learning..so I spend a great deal online. Also check emails, facebook, and ohbaby regularly. I really want to cut it down so I only check them twice a day and not procrastinate on the net....as I could be spending the time (like right now lol) with my boy and DP (then again DP is on the wii)...anywho am getting off now and not coming back on til close to 11pm..when a tm auction finishes lmao.

I spend about an hour in the morning once the kids have gone to school and DS is having breakfast and/or watching some TV.
When he is in bed, I can spend anywhere from 30mins+ on the net... usually I tend to take advantage of the two hours and watch my programmes that I've recorded.
Night time 60mins+

My job involves working with computers, I spend most of any spare time on OB.
Not so much at night as DH used the home computer and I prefer to read or watch tv.

Well, you are certainly not alone! I am online so much I have been accused of ALWAYS being on Facebook. However I maintain it just appears that way.
I am a graphic Designer so a lot of my work (which I do from home) is sitting at the computer and OB & FB prove to be a great distraction.
That and I am breastfeeding twins and my computer is right in front of where I feed them so it really does seem like I am always here. (I have a girl on my lap as I type haha, you get really good at one hand typing!)

Ohhhh me too! I really really want an iPhone but am not getting one because I think I *do* spend too much time on FB ... imagine if I had internet even when I'm not in the house
We have the laptop on all day long so we can see who's on skype. If I come in the lounge I move the mouse to see if anything new has happened. If C's asleep I usually spend the whole time online while I eat my lunch

In our defence.......if we didnt have our Internet time we would no doubt be non stop cooking or cleaning or running errands and doing stuff for everyone else but me...........we are actually allowed time out to sit and do something just for ourselves and if thats being on here then surely we should be allowed to allow ourselves this???
I only jump on briefly in the morn while im having my morning cuppa and then dont get back on until ive done my exercise and house work and finally make a cuppa and some toast and sit down to the laptop.......its kinda like ive replaced smoking with going on the net.........good trade me thinks

I have the internet going all day. Mainly emails, FB, OB, ebay etc. But thats also 10 minutes here and 1 hour there.
Em, when I was in hospital after having Jackson DH bought the laptop in for me. I would have died from boredom if he hadn't
I see it has a hobbie

I use the computer (FB, OB and a few other sites) as "me time" - often late at night when DH and DD are sleeping, and also during the day when DD is napping and I've got my work done.
Been uploading all of Brooke's photos lately - have got way behind. I like to back them up online. So this is my excuse for surfing the net - the uploading is going in the background.

rianna, I had the laptop with me when I was in hospital too. Was the first thing I told DH to pack! Hooray for free wireless
My excuse is that FB and email are how I keep in touch with everyone back home. They wouldn't see Callum unless I put photos up every month.
And although he gives me **** about it, DH expects me to check my emails at least every 30 mins or so .... judging by the "oh but I emailed you already" comments I get ALL the time if I call him at work
