Topic: What did you get your Midwife..? Posted: 03 November 2009 at 9:36am |
I am having trouble trying to think of what to get my MW's as a thank you gift.. Yes, plural - I had 3 MW's take care of me..
With DD we just bought our MW a bunch of flowers..
This time was different as actual MW was away when DS born so had back up MW attend birth and then my actual MW's student midwife who was brilliant at the birth.
I really only want to spend about $100 all up..
Am stuck for ideas.. Should I get all 3 the same or slightly different because of their envolvements etc..?
Help..!

We gave our midwife an awesome scale sling (for weighing wee babes) made by the Designer Bums lady in a basket fill of edible goodies and a bottle of DH's wine. She was a star so I really wanted to do something nice for her.
I say go for the wine - Its usually our present to everyone for any occasion and its always well-received

We got ours a bottle of wine, some of our free range eggs from our own chooks) and a cute photo of our baby for her to pin up on her "baby wall".
Maybe a bottle of wine and a baby photo each? That would be less than $100.

I didn't get mine anything, sent a thank you card and felt that was appropriate.
Is there a reason why you feel the need to get them a gift??
Not trying to be difficult, or start a debate, just wondering...

I have had this discussion with a couple of friends, Bel.
The first time I brought a gift because my MW was awesome and I desperately wanted her for #2 so figured there was no harm in a bit of greasing
I am also big on thank you gifts for people that go the extra mile for you and although she is paid to do her job, its not fantastic pay.

We got ours the Donna Hay - no time to cook book -The Foreward is great if you take the time to read it. She was hoping to spend more time with her family but she really goes behind the call of duty so having time to be a 'regular' mum must be tough.
