Topic: Strange dark marks on boys nappy Posted: 12 September 2009 at 8:38pm |
DS is 4 months old now, and just this last week I have noticed, in 2 of his MCN nappies, that where his penis is on the nappy, there are darker patches, like his penis is leaking out a darker fluid? or something?
I wasn't too worried about it first time, but today he had the 2nd one, and now I'm a bit concerned about what it could be.
I think I'll take him to the Dr on Monday and just get him checked out.
But in the meantime, I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

is it orange at all? when DS was first born he has orange spots and it was cos he wasnt getting any milk and he was dehydrated. i dont know what else might cause it though so might not be relevant since he is so much older and probably feeding fine

Yeah, at first I thought it might be dehdyration, but he feeds fine and all his nappies are wet. He has been waking lots in the night (between 10pm-7am), I think 4mo do that a lot because they are a bit hungry.
So maybe I'll try giving him more fluids during the day.

When you say dark patches.... could it be cos he has 'just' peed?? I notice that w Locks sometimes- and discovered it was that.... it hadnt soaked into the surrounding material yet. I dunno- just a thought.... update us after the doc visit? Deffinately get it checked... peace of mind, proffessional opinion etc.

Heya, Kitkat, it's not 'fresh' wee... It stays there and never soaks in.
I went to the Dr today, and he said it could just be a bit of sediment hanging around (?!) and not to worry, but he made me take a urine sample to Labtests just to double check there isn't anything wrong, so it's not really anything to worry about atm.

Turns out its E Coli! which is an infection from fecal matter... the nurse said it'll be from the poo in his nappy getting into his penis.
Its not bad enough for antibiotics, which i'm glad about. and he's not sick. so we just have to ride it out.

Wow, I'm having a boy so I'll be watching out for this one. Don't want his willy to get infected or anything. Goodness me!
