Hi,

My little girl is coming up 9 months old. Shes always been a good sleeper during the night, sleeping 12 hours and having 2 decent day sleeps, one of 2 hours in the morning and the other about an hour in the late afternoon. BUT......

Recently (like in the last week and a half), shes only sleeping for an hour in the morning and about 1/2 in the afternoon but by dinner time shes overtired, sometimes screaming while eating (with some nights having to feed her while shes having her bath and relaxed a bit), and in the last few nights shes taken ages to settle (like 1-2 hours) which is really unusal for her because she normally falls alseep with her dummy quite easily. Shes not waking up during the night.

Today, I made her stay up until about 11.30 and she slept till 2.30 and stayed up till bedtime at 7 and she seemed fine and relaxed (and fingers crossed has gone down for the night alright too). Does this mean that its time to change from 2 day sleeps to 1??

What age did your little ones drop a day sleep?? and how did you know it was the right time??

Rhyley is 9 months also and he has just gone thru a change of routine. he use to go back down for his morning sleep at 9 - 9.30 but now hes changed to in between 10am and 11am and sleeping till 12.30. Then he goes back down about 3.30pm till about 5.30. Then hes in bed at 7.30pm. He also dropped a bottle but is really ready for his afternoon one (he stopped having lunch one)
What time are you feeding her?

Jack went from two to one at about 16 months and we dropped it because he started not going to sleep for the second one. He has always been a terrible night sleeper tho and still doesn't sleep thru at 19 months.

It sounds like she is ready for one sleep now some babies drop it sooner than others

Thomas changed his routine too ... very similar to Rhyley ... although every now and again he will only have the mid morning sleep and just play in his cot for the late afternoon one ... I was starting to wonder if he really needed that second sleep or maybe just one mid day one ...

Im still trying to get him to have two though as he really needs it .. by dinner time he is so tired ....

if she's happier on one sleep, maybe it's the way to go?  All's I know is people sometimes comment that I'm lucky that Ella still has 2 sleeps a day, so maybe this is around the time that lots of babies drop a nap off their to-do list?

Andys sleeping has changed heaps (turned to total crap!) since he's been sick. I think it's because he's so stuffed up and can't breath properly and because his ear huuurts. He's also lots more clingie and needs his mummy more as well as heaps more boobies! Has Summers sleep changes coincided with her having the flu and teething? Might change once she's feeling better? Well, fingers crossed anyways.
(Andy missed his wee gal pal Sumnmer today at coffee group :( )

Blake started to change his routine by protesting a bit going down however we persisted with putting him in his room every morning between 9-9:30 and he goes off pretty happily honky dorey now. Still having afternoon sleep too and in bed 6-6:30.

My wee girl Olivia (13 months) still has two sleeps a day, every now and then I think she may not need both and we will have trouble putting her down and we will have a few days of one sleep and then we go back to two again. She has done this three times. I asked the doctor about it and she said it's because she is so active. She looks fine and then she walks up to the furniture and puts her head down on it, bit of a giveaway. I really did think she was ready to give up one but apparently I was wrong.
