Sorry - no advice but thought I should at least say "hi and good luck" since I was lurking.

I would imagine they would be pretty specific with where they placed it and it wouldn't affect your bladder or anything. You may find it wears off pretty quickly like lots of locals do but I don't *know* any of that!

I'm a practice nurse and we put anasthetic into the cervix for a few different procedures. They should only be putting in a small amount directly into your cervix, usually about 1.7ml - about 5ml (Dr's like to use the smallest amout necessary) It should be your cervix and a tiny area around it that goes numb. I've never had a patient have problems with peeing or anything like that, and the anasthetic should wear off within a couple of hours.

Remember to talk any concerns you have through with your Dr, it's part of the informed consent process.

Sorry for the late reply, I've had a local into the cervix after a dodgy smear test.

It didn't really hurt just a small prick and then nothing.

A smear test is far more uncomfortable than this.
