Sorry for the late reply, I've had a local into the cervix after a dodgy smear test.

It didn't really hurt just a small prick and then nothing.

I'm a practice nurse and we put anasthetic into the cervix for a few different procedures. They should only be putting in a small amount directly into your cervix, usually about 1.7ml - about 5ml (Dr's like to use the smallest amout necessary) It should be your cervix and a tiny area around it that goes numb. I've never had a patient have problems with peeing or anything like that, and the anasthetic should wear off within a couple of hours.

I would imagine they would be pretty specific with where they placed it and it wouldn't affect your bladder or anything. im getting this tomorrow and im just wondering...what gets numb? like just the cervix i know but how much surrounding stuff ends up numb too.
