Dislike of Granma

My daughter had the same thing with Grandpa (FIL). I had to growl at him and inform him that he couldn't invade her personal space with out her permission - just like any other person. So when he came over, he'd sit down on the other side of the room and ignore her - it sounds strange but it worked really well, within half an hour she's be over there playing with his feet and trying to get his watch. Because it was on her terms, she now adores him, squealing and dancinmg whenever he turns up (he's still not allowed to get to close for the first 10 minutes, but that's fine by him). She was the same with my dad, and we used the same technique, now he can pick her up and go exploring without me.

i think at 6 mths old it is probably a smell she dislikes not the person. or maybe she holds her funny or too tight!

actually she will start to go nuts if MIL holds her away from her also - just not as quick

But interesting about the perfumme as i often find her scent a bit strong for me - wonder if Ashley is the same?

Jack used to do it with old people So my grandparents, and all the oldies that we'd bump into that wanted to say how gorgeous he was - he'd just cry.

We did nothing, except purposely expose him MORE to those people. Now, Jack loves his grandma (my grandma actually) so much and loves all old people in general.

Probably just a phase, when they start getting more attached to the people they know vs. 'strangers'

Jakes always refused to bond much with my mum. No strong scents, glasses, 'old people' (LMAO shes only just turned 50 so I think she'd spaz at that!), etc he just has never been keen on her. We're starting to notice why now though with some of her behaviour so for him I think it was his baby '6th sense' picking up something he wasn't comfortable with. Even now he refuses to acknowledge her by name, won't say hi but happy to say bye, very rarely likes to hug her but absolutely adores my dad and wants to do everything with him. I dunno its weird...

My Daughter has been so friendly and got on with EVERYONE she has met so far in her 2 years. BUT just this last month she has developed what I interpret as a fear of MIL's partner. He is such a nice man and has heaps of grandchildren of his own and I am 100% sure (have to say this) he has never done anything untoward to Gabrielle but she has this intense fear of him now. She will scream and cry if he is ever in the same room and we went there yesterday and Gabrielle went running in to see her Nanny and then when she saw him she started screaming and ran to me and then kept her eyes slosed for AGES (he left - he was going out anyway) and Gabrielle slowly started peaking to make sure he wasn't there before hse opened her eyes again. Sorry a bit of a novel but so majorly random. I just thought we had made progress as when we saw him on the weekend she was upset but when we left she waved and said bye. So so wierd!

Aidan is like this with my fil. heaven help him if he gets picked up before he's allowed to!
the other day fil went up behind aidan and picked him straight up, then fil got all pissy cause aidan just screamed and screamed
Im like hello he didnt flippen see you to start off with and second of all you know you have to give aidan a chance to 'warm up'
