Just totaly out of curiosity.

It just seems at the moment most babies Maddi's age have been walking for months.

I know it really doesnt matter, all babies do it at different stages and have no doubt she will eventually take off.

Did you encourage you baby to walk or just wait untill 1 day where they just got up and started?

How long was you baby crawling, walking, standing, cruising before they started walking?

How long did it take them to go from their first steps to confidently walking?

Yesterday!!!

We decided to call it walking yesterday as she took about 10 steps before planting bottom! Sophie has been crawling since just after Christmas (10 months) but pulled up on Christmas Day (thanks to the Christmas present we bought her). She has been creeping around the furniture for ages and using the push along toys to walk around. In the last 3 or 4 weeks we have been encouraging a few steps between Mum and Dad each day, but in the last week she has been doing it on her own.

Off to buy her first pair of shoes today .

Hazel has just started walking around the couch and Esme isn't far behind. I have done nothing to encourage it at all!!! lol. They have both been crawling for a couple of months now.

2 of my nephews didn't start crawling or walking until after their first birthday. But both were early talkers. I wonder if maybe they can only concentrate on one thing at a time. Is Maddi very vocal? My girls are hardly vocal at all but spend a lot of time on the move.

Yeah I am not too worried. She is pretty vocal, a lot of what she says makes little sense but I can usually pick up the gist. This morning we were woken with 'Hi Dad, Hi Mum, Hello K(eira), Yayyyy"

She started crawling pretty early and has confidently been cruising around the furniture for months. She will stand for ages, or untill she realises she is standing. This morning she stood up againts the wall, let go and clapped for herself.

She too a single step the other day and lost her balance straight away, she really just doesnt seem interested in trying. She incrediably fast with her crawling and is a climbing machine so for her there is no rush. Just mummy getting impatient

Bailey didnt move at all until 10 months!!! he didnt crawl, roll, drag or anything!! he just sat there observing then one night when he was 10 months DH and i were sitting in lounge when Bay just got up on his feet and started walking!! we were stunned mullets!!!

Astin started crawling at 6ish months, walking around furniture at 8 months, walking a few unaided steps at 9 months and fully walking/running at 10 months.

ETA we wernt fussed on encouraging it to happen so we just let it be, we were super excited when it did happen though!!!!

We also had a wooden blocks trolley that both boys and nephew would push around the place when learning which we think helped.

Charlotte was crawling at 10 months but didn't walk until about 13 months. We did encourage it towards the end because she was wearing out knees on things!

12.5mos for the first two. #3 is quite tall and I think that made her slower to co-ordinate. Whatever the case, she was 15mos.

Ummm.

Cammondo crawled at 5.5 months
Crawled on all fours at 10 months
Walked behind things at 9 months
walked round furniture etc at 11 months
walked on his own at 11 month 3 weeks.

Seemed to crawl for ages and ages and probably wouldn't ever have crawled on all four if we hadn't gone on holiday to Bali where the concrete was hot and scrathy. We didn't do a lot to encourage him. He is not a big talker though so def focussed on moving more than talking!

With Jackson I would stand him up against the couch and encourage him to take steps towards me. Thats about all really. He was 10.5 months when he took his first steps, and now hes fully walking. So its taken about 3 weeks really.

Maddi sounds really clever!
All we get from Jackson is "Tssst at" (Which I think is "Whats that?") and Ta-Ta.

18.5 months, thought he would never do it....lol

He commando crawled from 8-13 months, then crawled then at 15 months was cruising furniture at around 16-17 months he learnt to stand up unaided but didn't step out into nowhere until xmas day when he was 18.5 months. Within a few weeks he was running.

Oh and he learnt to climb long before he learnt walk

We didn't do anything to try and make him do it quicker, just left him to it really. He does have a push along truck which he walked behind before walking unaided but we never forced him to do that he just worked it out on his own.

He started commando crawling at 6 months, crawling on hands & knees by 8 months. Started standing & climbing onto furniture at about 9 months (little monkey), he was walking around holding onto furniture then too. Then started walking at 10 months.

crawled 5- 6 months

walked at 9 months (was actually closer to 8.5 , but easier to say 9 )

was speaking in three -four word sentences by 11 months , and ones that made sense too eg "mummy is nice " (and mummy is mean /yuck etc incidentally )

I didn't do anything to encourage her walking, I wanted her to crawl as long as poss, talking the only thing I did was never talked for her I suppose , her vocab was 250 words before she was 2 .

....funny that now the only things she knows how to say are " i hate you mum! " and " your the meanest mum in the world !!!"

I want Tyler to be as stationary for as long as poss, C stopped being a baby far too early

This is just like Caden He started crawling around Christmas time(6 months) and he started walking round the furniture at 7 1/2 months and now he is taking his first steps on his own between the furniture and me and DH etc, he is standing up on his own now too from crouching.

Dominic walked at 14months almost to the day and starting running at 14months and one day and hasn't stopped! I wouldn't worry about if she is walking or not. It is actually better for their development to crawl for longer.

Sam used to cruise around on the back of his head for a couple of months before he started crawling on his hands and knees, he did that for the first time Christmas Day 07, so he was seven months old.

After that he started to pull himself up and walk around the furniture, and then at about 11 months old he started walking unaided and then two weeks after that he started running and has NEVER stopped!

I never really did anything to encourage him, he just did it when he was ready.   The one thing he did that came after ALL of that was sitting up.   My child hated sitting down so much that he waited until after he could walk to really do it properly.

And.. as for talking, we got 'tsss at' for 'what's that' FOREVER.    He barely said a word until 16-17 months old and now he has a word for most things and can string 5-6 six words together.

Alex started crawling at 7 months
Climbing up the stairs and, cruising at 7.5 months,
At 8 months could climb onto couch etc, and cruising almost constantly by then, but would freak out as soon as he let go of anything.
At 10 months he just let go and was off.
At 11 months he was running (non-stop) and could climb down stairs, and throw a ball.
And now at one he is trying to go up and down stairs like an adult (very scary), and is going 100km's everywhere.

We never really encouraged him just always been really active. Even in his sleep he can't stay still.lol.

Interesting to note that like some of you have said earlier about the talking. Alex only says 'ta' which he says for everything. And only in the last month has he really found his voice, constant babbling but no words....hmmmm. Maybe it's because he cant sit still for long enough to learn.
