She talks a lot and my plunket nurse did say they often focus on either movement or language.<br /><br />She commando crawled from 8 mths, and didn't crawl on all 4s until after her first birthday. She pulled herself up and cruised furniture for a long time before walking.<br /><br />ETA - ha ha she has just brought me her coat, hat and shoes - what is she trying to say?<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"> <span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by DJ</span>]]>

She started crawling at 12 months.<br /><br />Having said that she's more advanced than a lot of babies vocally so I guess that's what she's focusing on at the moment.]]>

We did very little to encourage him as well, just let him do things at his pace, now when he stands up we will hold our arms out to him and he will take a few steps towards us, he is starting to stand up and take steps with out us holding our arms out too.<br /><br />Caden has always been a very strong wee boy, right from day 1 he could hold his head up himself quite well, the midwives and doctors were quite surprised lol.]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=207">Maya</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 25784<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 10 April 2009 at 12:55pm<br /><br />Maya crawled at 8 mths, was pulling up from 7.5 mths and cruising the furniture and walked properly at 10 mths.<br /><br />Gremlins didn't even move till 10 mths, and walked somewhere between 13 and 14 mths, probably closer to 14.<br /><br />Lil miss was 9 mths yesterday and she is headed into first steps territory, she's standing on her own and too bloody confident for her own good, her fave thing to do is to push her toys around the floor, right now she's dancing behind her Noah's Ark and pushing it around. She's had very little encouragement from us (I wanted my baby to stay little for just a wee bit longer!) but I think having 3 big sisters is encouragement enough.]]>

Anyway the average age for walking is 13 months so for every kid that walks before 13 theres one that walks after.<br /><br />I am such a slack mother I can hardly remember when my kids did stuff. I think Jack was 11 months when he walked and that was very encouraged. Caprece was about 15 or 16 months I think but she wasn't really encouraged like Jack was. Shes a lot more vocal than Jack was although at the moment pretty much every word she says is no. <br /><br />Really by the age of 5 kids are pretty even in that they can walk, talk, jump etc. Early babies aren't proven to be any smarter or better at sports than later babies so don't worry too much. ]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=21876">bex88</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 25784<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 09 April 2009 at 2:20pm<br /><br />Alex started crawling at 7 months<br />Climbing up the stairs and, cruising at 7.5 months,<br />At 8 months could climb onto couch etc, and cruising almost constantly by then, but would freak out as soon as he let go of anything.<br />At 10 months he just let go and was off. <br />At 11 months he was running (non-stop) and could climb down stairs, and throw a ball.<br />And now at one he is trying to go up and down stairs like an adult (very scary), and is going 100km's everywhere. <br /><br />We never really encouraged him just always been really active. Even in his sleep he can't stay still.lol.<br /><br />Interesting to note that like some of you have said earlier about the talking. Alex only says 'ta' which he says for everything. And only in the last month has he really found his voice, constant babbling but no words....hmmmm. Maybe it's because he cant sit still for long enough to learn.<br />]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=17440">mamanee</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 25784<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 09 April 2009 at 11:49am<br /><br />Sam used to cruise around on the back of his head for a couple of months before he started crawling on his hands and knees, he did that for the first time Christmas Day 07, so he was seven months old.<br /><br />After that he started to pull himself up and walk around the furniture, and then at about 11 months old he started walking unaided and then two weeks after that he started running and has NEVER stopped!<br /><br />I never really did anything to encourage him, he just did it when he was ready.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The one thing he did that came after ALL of that was sitting up.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;My child hated sitting down so much that he waited until after he could walk to really do it properly.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> <br /><br />And.. as for talking, we got 'tsss at' for 'what's that' FOREVER.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He barely said a word until 16-17 months old and now he has a word for most things and can string 5-6 six words together.<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by neeandsam</span>]]>

" and " your the meanest mum in the world !!!" <br /><br />I want Tyler to be as stationary for as long as poss, C stopped being a baby far too early ]]>

Started standing & climbing onto furniture at about 9 months (little monkey), he was walking around holding onto furniture then too. Then started walking at 10 months.]]>

Within a few weeks he was running.<br /><br />Oh and he learnt to climb long before he learnt walk<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0"> <br /><br />We didn't do anything to try and make him do it quicker, just left him to it really. He does have a push along truck which he walked behind before walking unaided but we never forced him to do that he just worked it out on his own.<br />]]>

Thats about all really. He was 10.5 months when he took his first steps, and now hes fully walking. So its taken about 3 weeks really. <br /><br />Maddi sounds really clever! <br />All we get from Jackson is  "Tssst at" (Which I think is "Whats that?") and Ta-Ta. ]]>

We didn't do a lot to encourage him. He is not a big talker though so def focussed on moving more than talking!]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=17467">BaAsKa</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 25784<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 09 April 2009 at 9:30am<br /><br />Bailey didnt move at all until 10 months!!! he didnt crawl, roll, drag or anything!! he just sat there observing then one night when he was 10 months DH and i were sitting in lounge when Bay just got up on his feet and started walking!! we were stunned mullets!!!<br /><br />Astin started crawling at 6ish months, walking around furniture at 8 months, walking a few unaided steps at 9 months and fully walking/running at 10 months.<br /><br />ETA we wernt fussed on encouraging it to happen so we just let it be, we were super excited when it did happen though!!!!<br /><br />We also had a wooden blocks trolley that both boys and nephew would push around the place when learning which we think helped.<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by BaileyandAstin</span>]]>

She is pretty vocal, a lot of what she says makes little sense but I can usually pick up the gist. This morning we were woken with 'Hi Dad, Hi Mum, Hello K(eira), Yayyyy"<IMG src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0"></P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>She started crawling pretty early and has confidently been cruising around the furniture for months. She will stand for ages, or untill she realises she is standing. This morning she stood up againts the wall, let go and clapped for herself.</P><P>She too a single step the other day and lost her balance straight away, she really just doesnt seem interested in trying. She incrediably fast with her crawling and is a climbing machine so for her there is no rush. I have done nothing to encourage it at all!!! lol. They have both been crawling for a couple of months now.<br /><br />2 of my nephews didn't start crawling or walking until after their first birthday. But both were early talkers. I wonder if maybe they can only concentrate on one thing at a time. Is Maddi very vocal? My girls are hardly vocal at all but spend a lot of time on the move.]]>

Sophie has been crawling since just after Christmas (10 months) but pulled up on Christmas Day (thanks to the Christmas present we bought her). She has been creeping around the furniture for ages and using the push along toys to walk around. In the last 3 or 4 weeks we have been encouraging a few steps between Mum and Dad each day, but in the last week she has been doing it on her own. <br /><br />Off to buy her first pair of shoes today <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley8.gif" border="0"> .]]>
