Ok experts out there.....what do you recommend? I bought the only brand at our local 4 square and have got some pretty ambiguous results. First time I did it (last night) I watched as the moisture spread up past the test line to the control and a line appeared....therefore BFN (as I expected). But this morning I thought I wuold do it again (as you do) so I did the same thing. peed, dropped the drops in the well and hopped in the shower. Now I would have been in there between 1-5 min (not long as Tom was SCREAMING in his room). Get out and there is a fine test line! So now I am thinking....did I wait too long or is it a BFP? Would there be such a fine line between the right time and too long?

I want to test again (obviously)n but think maybe a different test so What do you reckon is best?????

Don't knock it being a BFP. I hope it is! I did exactly what you just described when I found out about ethan. I tested the night before & it was BFN then the next morning just because I felt the need to.. I tested again. It was a very faint test line. I phoned the 0800# on the back of the pack while I was still in the bathroom. The woman on the phone said - if theres a line there - no matter how faint it is.. it's a BFP.

Then 2 days later I went to see a GP, was a definite positive

It was a Clearblue Pregnancy Test. Only needs 1min

I just think I may have left it too long. I am just re-reading the instructions as in the past I had the idea that BFP should show up in the first minute. (its an MDS Quick Card).

This is what it says

"Positive results may be evident within 1 minute but negative results should be read at 5 minutes."

Now I always took that as your positive should show up within 1 minute and that it might take 5 min to get the control line up if itisnt positive. But now thinking about it it could mean that it may take up to 5 min to show the test line.

So then I read on and got

"The test is completes in 5 mintutes and should be read at that time a discarded. The test has a certain amount of flexibiliyt built in with regard to its reaction time. After 5 minutes, a negative sample may appearto be weekly positive, therefore any interpretaion read after 5 minues must be considered INVALID"

How close to the 5 minutes does it change. Like I said I thought it was only about 5 minutes later but maybe it was 6 or 7.

Arrrrrgghhhh....guess I will have to test again tomorrow morning.

Imagine if I am...how cool would that be

I used the quick cards with both my boys. Josh's one I stuffed up (left it too long) so did another one straight away and it was a BFP.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

That's so funny Bel.. it was 2 Clearblues for me too then a 3rd on the morning I went to the GP which was still this faint line.. Only went to the GP because dh was insisting & we were both in a dazed but happy shock.

dont get your hopes up I am betting that my shower was alittle longer than I thought. but a BFP would explain a few things and maybe why I got that weird spotting but no actual AF

yep bel...had 2-3 days of that last week. thought it was AF starting but it never really did anything. Had a day of spotting a few weeks earlier as well. Very weird. So it is either something positive or (as I am thinking) my cycles doing weird and wonderful post baby things

I think you are... I've always read those as you check them at 5 mins and hold your breath for the BFP all those 5 mins! Once I tried to see if I could get a fake positive, I kept the test until the next period and it still didn't have a faint line for positive lol

If that is so I wonder how long I have been I did about 4 of those test a few weeks ago and tossed each out after 1 min. basically I saw the control come up and 1 min passed so I assumed BFN and chucked them in the bin. man am I gonna feel stupid tomorrow if it is a BFP

This happened with me just recently, the line didn't come up until the 5 mins and then I could only just see it, but I was pregnant. The GP uses the same test and his came up negative, funnily enough he also scrutinised it under a light, lol. but my blood test came back positive (he couldn't explain why his test had failed) Take another test tomorrow and if you get another faint line go to the docs and get a blood test.

i've only ever used the first response tests as i couldn't justify spending the extra money when i was sure the results were going to be negative

sounds like a BFP nikki, but will wait til tomorrow and see...

Good luck Nikki! I like the Discover tests, I found with the Clearblue I only ever got really faint lines even when I was definitely pregnant (serial POAS'er here )
