Ok experts out there.....what do you recommend? I bought the only brand at our local 4 square and have got some pretty ambiguous results. First time I did it (last night) I watched as the moisture spread up past the test line to the control and a line appeared....therefore BFN (as I expected). But this morning I thought I wuold do it again (as you do) so I did the same thing. peed, dropped the drops in the well and hopped in the shower. Now I would have been in there between 1-5 min (not long as Tom was SCREAMING in his room). Get out and there is a fine test line! So now I am thinking....did I wait too long or is it a BFP? Would there be such a fine line between the right time and too long?
I want to test again (obviously)n but think maybe a different test so What do you reckon is best?????

Don't knock it being a BFP. I hope it is! I did exactly what you just described when I found out about ethan. I tested the night before & it was BFN then the next morning just because I felt the need to.. I tested again. It was a very faint test line. I phoned the 0800# on the back of the pack while I was still in the bathroom. The woman on the phone said - if theres a line there - no matter how faint it is.. it's a BFP.
Then 2 days later I went to see a GP, was a definite positive
It was a Clearblue Pregnancy Test. Only needs 1min

I just think I may have left it too long. I am just re-reading the instructions as in the past I had the idea that BFP should show up in the first minute. (its an MDS Quick Card).
This is what it says
"Positive results may be evident within 1 minute but negative results should be read at 5 minutes."
Now I always took that as your positive should show up within 1 minute and that it might take 5 min to get the control line up if itisnt positive. But now thinking about it it could mean that it may take up to 5 min to show the test line.
So then I read on and got
"The test is completes in 5 mintutes and should be read at that time a discarded. The test has a certain amount of flexibiliyt built in with regard to its reaction time. After 5 minutes, a negative sample may appearto be weekly positive, therefore any interpretaion read after 5 minues must be considered INVALID"
How close to the 5 minutes does it change. Like I said I thought it was only about 5 minutes later but maybe it was 6 or 7.
Arrrrrgghhhh....guess I will have to test again tomorrow morning.
Imagine if I am...how cool would that be

I used the quick cards with both my boys. Josh's one I stuffed up (left it too long) so did another one straight away and it was a BFP.

Yes, that would be just so awesome nikki . I will be up thinking about you tonight now lol! Are you going to wait until the morning?. how will you sleep? Please do let us know.. we'll be hanging out here until you do
That's so funny Bel.. it was 2 Clearblues for me too then a 3rd on the morning I went to the GP which was still this faint line.. Only went to the GP because dh was insisting & we were both in a dazed but happy shock.

dont get your hopes up I am betting that my shower was alittle longer than I thought. but a BFP would explain a few things and maybe why I got that weird spotting but no actual AF

hmmm I have had some weird spotting too - (TMI, but brownish when wiping) and nothing else - has been like that for a week... Is that what you have had nikki??
sorry for TJ

yep bel...had 2-3 days of that last week. thought it was AF starting but it never really did anything. Had a day of spotting a few weeks earlier as well. Very weird. So it is either something positive or (as I am thinking) my cycles doing weird and wonderful post baby things

well ive done a test recently and it was neg, checked it when i got home after work just to be nosey and there was still definately no line at all. Plus when I tested with Kobe it was a really faint positive, went to the doctor and it took 6 minutes to come up on one of her tests but she still said it was a positive (and it was) I reckon you are preggie but will hold my congrats till tomorrow hehe

I think you are... I've always read those as you check them at 5 mins and hold your breath for the BFP all those 5 mins! Once I tried to see if I could get a fake positive, I kept the test until the next period and it still didn't have a faint line for positive lol

If that is so I wonder how long I have been I did about 4 of those test a few weeks ago and tossed each out after 1 min. basically I saw the control come up and 1 min passed so I assumed BFN and chucked them in the bin. man am I gonna feel stupid tomorrow if it is a BFP

yeah its def meant to read as if there is no line after 5 mins then you can assume its negative but my first few took longer than that as well:) hope its BFP for you:)

This happened with me just recently, the line didn't come up until the 5 mins and then I could only just see it, but I was pregnant. The GP uses the same test and his came up negative, funnily enough he also scrutinised it under a light, lol. but my blood test came back positive (he couldn't explain why his test had failed) Take another test tomorrow and if you get another faint line go to the docs and get a blood test.

i've only ever used the first response tests as i couldn't justify spending the extra money when i was sure the results were going to be negative
sounds like a BFP nikki, but will wait til tomorrow and see...

Ooooh have you tested this morning yet?? I used the internet cheapies from www.saveontests.com but they won't get here for a week and you'll no doubt know if you're pregnant or not by then! But one of those showed up a line for me two days before my period was due, and I was pregnant! (I did 4 tests till I believed it tho, lol!)
Oh and for those tests it was US$5 for 10 tests, and postage so all up my credit card was charged NZ$11! For 10 tests!

I chose my pregnancy tests because I got 3 for about $13. but 10 for $11 is great. But I dont think I will bother with more testing

When I got my BFP - with the same tests you're using, it was very faint.
The following day it was a wee bit brighter, so I booked into the doctor for the following morning so she could test with FMU.
It came up as a BFN, but because I'd taken the two tests with me the doctor decided to do another one an hour later. So I hung around, re-tested and it was a BFP...
*fingers crossed*

I wonder if my urine was too dilute. I had just drunk a bottle of water an hour earlier and was BUSTING!!! Whereas last night I hadnt done anything different.
|
Posted By: rachelsea
Date Posted: 13 March 2008 at 4:46pm
Yup that would be it, if you test later in the day during early pregnancy chances are you will get a negative because the hormones are less dilute than with first morning urine. I bet you're still pregnant
