Topic: Anyone else?? Posted: 13 December 2005 at 5:20pm |
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me. I have two adorable children, one ds who is 4 1/2 and one ds who is 5 months old. My problem is that I desperately want another baby, (yes already) and dh is determined we are done. Has anyone else managed to sway a determined husband??? I know I could have a little accident if I had to but I don't like to betray him like that, I want him to want another baby too. Any suggestions???
TIA

hi sorry don't have any suggestions but i completely understand where you are coming from.
hubby has already told me we are stopping at 2 kiddies. we have a son jack, 17mths but i'm so afraid that the next one will also be a boy. it's just that i'd really love a daughter. guess i'll just have to cross that bridge when i come to it.
good luck

My partner and I were the other way round, I didn't want anymore kids (traumatic experiance for me) - but he wants 2 if not 3.
We have since sat down (quite a few times! and yelled... ALOT!) about reasons for and against - but I have now changed my mind...
I think the best way around it is to sit down and say why you want another child, if you can afford it (this was a sticky point for me - as well as labour / birth), and how the other two children will react to a third child etc etc...
Be prepared to look at it from his point of view and ask him to do the same for you...
Not sure exactly what David and I said to each other when we were going through the same but when I remember bits and pieces I'll let ya know!!
Good Luck

Thanks guys, I know I should be happy with two but something in me wants one more. And it is not just to get a girl, because I know the odds of that are fairly slim when we already have two boys. I just want a third child. I will keep perservering and hope he changes his mind.

Give it time - your lil boy is 5 months so enjoy his growing up fast stages! and just keep talking to your hubby!
All the best

I feel the exact same way, I have two beautiful children a girl who is just about 3 and a wee boy who has just turned 1. I love them both to bits but I would like to have another, my husband always wanted three but now that we have one of each he doesn't want anymore which I thinks completely unfair as you have a baby for a baby not a sex. Also everyone assumes that because you have one of each you won't be having anymore!

I feel the same as well -i have 2 girls, and while part of me would like a boy,i have nannied boys and dunno if i could see myself as a mum of a boy, lolol, i think 3 girls would be pretty neat too.. (and less expensive cos i already have everything) Mike has said we are DONE, sometimes he seems like i could sway him, but he has told me that he REALLLLLLY does not want anymore. sometimes i feel like i reallllly want another, but then when it's hectic and crazy and the kids are being nuts and i haven't slept properly for days, I can see where Mike is coming from - cos not only does he have to deal with the kids too, but he also has to deal with me when the kids are like that. lolol poor guy.

Hey yep i'm sort of in this situation. This may sound crazy but i think i want one more so i can do one baby again because its so different with 2 babies. My husband has said thats it no more, but i have managed to talk him round abit and he has said that he will consider it when the twins are 5, which is fine with me because i want a big age as i'm not sure what my chances are of having twins again are, so the bigger the age gap the better. For me anyway.
