If you really didn't care what other people thought of you and your decisions, then you wouldn't have started this thread.
It kind of screams insecurity, immaturity and attention seeking.
Just saying.

I just went and read that, so I apologise for my comment, I got the wrong end of the stick. I went away and thought about what I said and realised that it was quite rude.
And yeah I agree, you do start to believe things when you write them down.

Your thread Kelly.
Good group! It's a hard thing to learn to not care what others think of you but once you do... It feels great!

my mother was always going on at me about "what will they think of me". and really it did her no good... she eventually learnt that what "they" thought didnt matter. Some peoples opinions do matter but you shouldnt let what random strangers on a message board say affect you deeply. after all they are judging you only on what little you show of yourself or what they choose to see.

Kelly it is not a dig at you I really do think people who have social issues blame other people when in reality it is often how that person feels about themselves I think it would be so a better place if we learn xtra be comfortable in our own skin at not let what others think control how we feel about ourselves. Someone said treat others how you like to be trated that only works if you know how to be happy about you and treat yourself right

I agree with _ Waiting_
and i only think about and care what people say if it's my closest family, DH and close friends. Nobody else knows me well enough to pass judgement.

wow so you all really don't care what people think??!! I would love to not care at all but I do... not to the point that it rules my life, and I'm a happy, friendly person who is comfortable around people... but I do still care what people think of me. I mean I buy clothes to try to look nice, I do my hair when I go out even when I can't be assed, I make sure the kids are clean and polite, I'm friendly to people even when I'm in a bad mood, I am too embarassed to buy wine when I am pregnant incase they thought it was for me, I'm not a public speaking fan incase I stumble on my words or say something dumb etc etc... I can see life would be much easier not caring, but what a hard place to get to IMO...

See. Like to be clean And tidy and dress nice hair and makeup cause it makes me feel good not to impress anyone. I do still do care but I won't let that rule me. Think. That is the secect don't change who you are to impress someone else. Just learn to be you not who people expect you to be

The best advice my dad ever gave me was "you can't please all of the people, all of the time. You can only ever please some of the people, some of the time". And honestly, that advice has been liberating for me.

Exactly JadeC and tbh it was when I overcame my darkest days that I realised it.
All you can do is be yourself and if people don't like it then it's there problem and they clearly aren't the right people for you!
Like Bizzy, my gran has spent her whole life worrying about what 'the neighbours will think' etc... No point worrying about it... It ends up ruling your life as someone mentioned and for me personally I'd rather be enjoying my life, my dd etc than worrying about what someone (I may not even know?!) thinks!
