Be honest now... for those of you who've had babies before...

Do you think your babies are gorgeous the first time you set eyes on them? Or were you disappointed?

Being a new mommy, I'm so excited to meet bub at the end of the journey but on the other hand, will I get disappointed?

I look at DH all the time now, trying to picture how bub would look like... it's like being given a pressie, you know what you're getting but you just can't picture it. Will I love it immediately? Oh I can't wait to unwrap it and see what it looks like!!!
1st baby!

I thought both of mine were beautiful straight away but then they are! Not that I'm bias or anything
Even if you have a FLK (funny looking kid) they will be beautiful to you.

hahaha , when C was born , the first thing I thought was
"you aint putting that anywhere near me til you clean her up ! "

Once she was wiped down and I looked at her properly , I thought she was the most beautiful baby ever , she had a tiny nose and a beautiful round head.
That was probably because I was biased tho (and relieved she was a girl, when I first saw the umbilical cord , I thought I had a really well endowed son ...)

Im not one of those "all newborn babies are beautiful " tho, they are beautiful in the new baby, miracle of life type way, but really , there are some ugly newborns out there. Im sorry , its true .
But they get cuter over the next couple of days ....once all that swelling has gone down

I thought his head shape looked a bit stupid because it was cone shape for the first few hours from a posterior birth and getting a bit stuck.. but once that settled down I thought he was gorgeous and so did the MWs. One MW said to me that 1/10 babies are beautiful and that I had one. I was like awwwwwww w I love you lol.

I was pretty spaced out when Lauren came into the world with all the drugs I was on. I thought she looked like my Dad and her name was Nicole that wasn't her name at all, my name is Nicole! I don't recommend drugs at all!!

To answer your question seriously though, I thought Lauren was the most perfect, gorgeous baby I had ever seen and I didn't care what anyoen else thought! To me she was everything I dreamed she would be!

I have to admit I have a very close friend who has this baby girl that honestly looks like an unattractive balding old man lol. But she thinks her baby is the most gorgeous thing in the world. I think most people consider their own beautiful whether it's true or not. However my belief is that quite often ugly or strange looking babies usually grow up to be drop dead gorgeous and pretty babies often grow up to be quite ordinary or plain looking. I think my girls are pretty babies but I don't think they'll grow up to be twin versions of Rachel Hunter lol!

To answer the actual question though my girls were purple, covered in blood and screaming my first thought was honestly - they look like aliens!

Jake looked like a little doll, he was perfect, with a wee head of dark hair and a perfectly round head. I couldn't believe how perfect he looked.

Charlotte was red, wrinkly, bald and angry looking. Peeling and funny looking, like a skinned monkey. I loved her to bits.l but it took a looong itme before she got "cute". And I rmember thining when they put her in my arms "oh, she's not cute like Jake was"

I'm with Kelly ,I don't think all babies ar beautiful, but all mothers will think their babies are cute, and everyone will always say how beautiful/cute they are regardless.
You won't care, honesty!

both my kids were extremely cute the moment they came out.......even though jack had red marks around his eyes and charli's head was really bruised from trying to get out

i can remember some very vivid dreams i had near the end of my pregnancies that involved THE most hideous babies i've ever seen!

i think it's a perfectly natural thing to fear...

Gosh no, Belle was not a pretty baby. I felt very protective but didnt think she was beautiful until she was a few weeks old.

She had these little seal-grey eyes and didnt cry, just glared at you like she was grumpy about being hauled out.

When Elle was born she was overdue, so she was a bit wrinkly, peeling skin and her facial features were quite puffy, so when I first looked at her she wasn't quite the cutest baby in the whole world but she was gorgeous to me. Her puffiness went away after a day or 2 and then I thought she was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I still wonder the same thing - you will never know because they are beautiful in your eyes... and people will tell you they are beautiful too!

I was worried he'd be a FLK but was relieved that he was cute - albeit purple and puffy, but he had these big blue eyes that just looked straight at me.

One friend had a CS and her first 2 questions were "does it have a giant birthmark on its face" and "has it got all 4 limbs". To this day, she doesn't know where that came from, but it was very important at the time!

Thanks for the candor guys! This is great...

I know it's shallow but hey, right now that's all I can obsess about. How our creation would look like. And yeah, I get what you mean.. even if I had a FLK others wouldn't tell me so. I just wondered if all mummies are biased and think they are gorgeous anyway... so it's great to hear some of you saying that you honestly didn't think so at first!!!

My mom told me that when I was born, her best friend's daughter was also born 2 months before me.

But I was an ugly looking creature. I was 2 months premature, and was a dark, crying, tiny, hairy looking creature. Each time they took their daughters out on a stroller, we would be side by side and strangers would gather around her best friend's daugher and commented how cute and beautiful she was (She's everything I wasn't - chubby, rosy, smiling). No one would even glance at me

But hey, now that we've grown up, I must say that I ain't that bad looking.
1st baby!

haha! Yes newborns are ugly! People do lie
But you wont care, you will think it is the most wonderful thing & love it.

Honestly I thought Brae was the cutest thing ever. I was told that when people say he is beautiful they arent lying
Kalyx was an ugly baby, he looked like a monkey for the first month- but no one said he was- tis what I thought & still loved him none the less

Hey Spicy Chick. I loved DD from the start and I must admit that I didn't really get to see the cone head thing because I was a bit spacey but DH did. I have to say that all newborn babies that I have seen look very much like a wrinkly pink monkey and they start to straighten out after that. In DD's case it continued a bit longer though because she had red scaley skin for quite a while and we had to use hydrocortisone cream on her to clear it up.

No matter how your baby looks when it comes out you will love it anyway and it only gets better.
