Topic: Argh Heck, Im confused! Posted: 27 October 2007 at 5:53am |
Ok, so my ticker says that I am on day 4, and did a poas test last night, and I'm sure it was a faint line. I left it sitting by the sink and forgot about it. I told DF it was BFN and thought nothing of it. But it nagged at me overnight, and indeed I had a baby dream (not unusual for me) Then this morning I had another look at it. Now, it hadn't changed but after looking at it under the daylight (we have very weak bulbs in the bathroom, so we don't blind ourselves in the middle of the night) and showing it to DF, my heart skipped a little, and DF has even said maybe... Argh, so, is a line a line, or does it have to be really strong? It's not like I'm tilting it to eek out a view of it, its just really really faint.
After looking back at out BD dates, and with the knowledge that I OV quite late, then could I just be 'only just' pg, so therefore lower levels of HCG, thus weaker line? Or am I just sad and reading way too much into something that is prob another BFN?Come ladies, be as honest as you can, I can take it.
I will be doing another test in a few days, prob on Monday when I get to Christchurch for my week long sabatical. Ah, holiday with fab family. I would love nothing more than to be able to tell my parents that they have a miracle grandchild on the way. Them and the lovely ladies on here will be pretty much all we tell as it is a bit of a higher risk pg than the norm, and I'm realistic to the possibilities.
I guess what I would love is a whole bunch of people telling me that yes I'm pg, and to give it time for the hormones to catch up. I know I'm not imagining the line (as I have done before ) and DF isn't one to just say what I want to hear, so argh, so frustrating! I don't exactly feel pg, have had a little bit of nausea (that could be pain meds tho) and my breasts feel ENORMOUS! And I've been peeing more often. But I don't really have sore breasts, bad nausea (although I take meds for that, so dunno how bad it would be without them) cramps, etc. Oh, and I've been SUPER hormonal, mega horrible to DF, then in the same breath crying at the telly, and then cuddly with Df. Poor guy must be so confused! Good thing I'm getting out of his hair for a week. But then, if I get a BFP on Monday, I will be 5hrs away and having to share the happy news by txt! How sad! But, he can always come up and see me I guess. Haaah...(read as 'frustrated exhalation)
Anywho, will def be back on Monday to give the update, I'm really trying not to get my hopes up too much as I know it will be crushing if it is BFN. But then I keep seeing that ever so faint line.
Gar I'm going mad! Someone save me from myself!

It could go either way I guess. From the HPT's I did the month I got pregnant, the lines never went any darker than what they first came up with (even days later) but they do say to disregard the reading after the time limit. Can you do one first thing tomorrow morning so that you can look at it in the daylight and DF will still be there to tell if it is a positive.
Once you think you see a line it is impossible to get the thought out of your head until you know for sure. If it were me, I'd be going and getting more tests to do I really hope it does turn out a positive for you and DF Good luck.

Thank you Amber, so happy someone is up as freakishly early like me! Have been mulling it over all night...
Will still do another test on Monday, but if I'm not sure then I can get my Mum to double check it for me, and sh eis a straight talker, she won't pussy foot around. If its BFP, she'll know.
Cheers, good to get everyones perspective! Keep em coming. But later k, all you mummys and preggers ladies need a sleep in! Its Saturday after all! I myself haven't been to sleep yet. Funny sleep patterns and all that. Looooooong story, believe me...

Good luck bumblefoot. I knnow how you feel, I had a faint line on one last week when I went back to look again and sadly it was a BFN. But I have a friend who is now 6 months pregnant and she was the same as Amber lines stayed very faint on her tests, so it could be good news.
I have my fingers and toes crossed for you.
Good Luck!

I'm not really sure either (still too new at this whole game) but although my first test was clearly a line, the test i did two days later was A LOT darker than the first, the day before I was incredibly hormonal, grumpy, teary etc but I didn't have any other symptoms at that stage. So I really, really hope it's a BFP for you, I'll have everything crossed!

night time pee isnt as strong as morning pee so i think if it was a positive then if you did another one first thing in the morning (even before monday) it would show up. but if you can wait till monday why not. I always hated that i found out i was pg too early - 4 weeks 1 day kind of thing - cause it made everything just drag out for soooo long.

The line was there as it is now, after a little under 2mins. But I had convinced myself that it was going to be a BFN even before I did it so told myself it was just too faint. And it didn't change at all overnight, was just as faint, but (to me) just as there. The line certainly has colour in it, not like the evap line my friends had on hers after she waited a day or so to show me her BFP. And that was silvery, mine wasn't, was faint purple.
Man I've got the worst nausea atm, and thats WITH nausea medication. And this stuff is virtually foolproof. So if I'm not pg, then something is going on. Will monitor my temp over next few days just to be sure I'm not getting sick. Would much rather BFP have to say.... Plus I've just had a big DUH moment, I have been the most tired, nay exhausted, in the past week or so. And I'm still taking my iron tabs so I know thats covered.
God I would just love this to be true, we have done everything right, and will be such good parents, certainly very loving. We deserve this, come on!
Well I think I might go and get a few hours sleep, sleep away the nausea, got the bowl by the bed. To be honest, I would happily put up with 9mos of nausea twice as bad as this (and this is pretty bad, she says cuddling the bowl...) for a wee bubba. I'd put up with almost anything.
Thank you so much ladies, I'm trying not to get the hopes up too much, I know this could very well be a BFN/false alarm, and I will take that ok, I'm sorta used to it now. There will always be next month. Thats the great thing about life. Stick to the game plan and all will eventually pan out.
Right, thank you once again, you guys are the best girly support a gal could wish for, and I shall be back in a couple of hours.

You know, I can't remember what brand it was! I had a couple internet ones left over so it was prob one of those. My gf got me them from the lady on TM that sells them. Pretty sure it had a blue handle on the strip, that much I know.
Stink about the first response ones, that was what I used when I got pg the first time (resulted in m/c unfortunately) and again it was almost as faint as this one here staring at me (don't worry, its in a clear snap-lock bag) but was later confirmed by a blood test at 5days late for AF. And about 8 other first response poas's (only to m/c at 7w 5d) Have to say the line never got very dark with those ones either, but Mum had the same prob with us kids, with me she never got a positive poas, and didn't get a positive blood test until 8w 3d pg! Thats some insanely low HCG.
Never thought you were raining on my parade luv, it's good to know all the facts that I can, never know when you will need some info. Thank you for your reply, def food for thought. In future will def steer clear of the first response tests.
Don't think I will test again until Monday, that way hopefully if it is a wee bean in there the HCG levels will have risen, and Mum can be my impartial eye. I can wait that long strangely, usually I'm the most trigger happy tester there is. I have an uncharacteristic sense of calm and serenity atm, so we shall see how long that lasts. Prob until my next mood-swing! Oh poor DF! If it ain't pg, then I've got some wicked PMS! And its gona be a MASSIVE AF! Pains the lot.
I would say this is a BFN, but there is that little glimmer. So I am going to assume it is a BFN, until proven otherwise. That way it will be easier.
Ta again, will be back later, after 4pm I'd say. Have a lovely day ladies!

To be honest, if you are still feeling nauseas when taking anti-nausea meds then I'd say it'd be anxiety making you feel that way rather than pregnancy... because the meds would work to quell nausea from pregnancy as well as side effect from other stuff.
Anyway, I hope you get your BFP

Good luck bumblefoot. I did my test VERY early on as I must have ovulated much later than I thought and the first one was such a faint line that I thought I had done something wrong. I repeated it 2 days later and there wasnomistaking it then.

Nope, will hold off til Monday I think, dunno if I really have the cahones to test again before then.
I'm kinda kicking myslef atm, I never thought to take a pic, and I've thrown the test strip out! It was driving me nuts just staring at me, and I kept looking at it. Was driving me spare, so I binned it.
Nausea is settling down but seem to only be able to stomach fairly plain foods. Still more tired than I can ever remember. Been blobbing on the couch all day. DF serving as my personal hand maid atm, bless him. Hormones seem a little better tonight, don't have that urge to wrap my hands around DF's throat every 20mins! Think the sleep has done me good.
Thanks all for the support, you will be among the first to know the result on Monday. Be the PM. Perhaps after dinner.
Babydust to all who wishes for it, and fingers crossed for the weekend. No AF signs yet, so just wait and see I guess.

If you have a sample container, pee in that in the morning for a more definite test in the pm! Only another, darker, test will prove anything now.
