Would you buy the same buggy again?

Hi all new mums!!

I am 32 weeks pregnant, looking at buying a baby buggy and am so confused about what will work once the little squeaker is out! They all make huge claims to be the best and at the moment I'm just guessing what features will be most valuable.

Is it best to buy a capsule/buggy all in one that you can plug into a base in the car? Or does this not work as well as it looks in practice? I was looking at the Milano at baby city today, it looks really good but quite light - do they fall apart?

I have been given an older style mountain buggy terrain which is very basic with no extra features but looks good and sturdy. I can see the benefit of having the capsule which clicks into the buggy though and wonder is it worth having both?

It's my first baby so hopefully we'll be able to use whatever we buy for future bubbies too!

Any tips or advice (with the benefit of hindsight) would be much appreciated.

We have a capsule that snaps into the buggy and i can't say its been very useful at all for me. Main reason is that it made the buggy incredibly heavy to push round and control when they two were in together and after just a few weeks my ds is very happy in the buggy but will not tolerate the capsule unless its in the car.

 

Only commenting as we paid what I think is a lot for the combination and i'm not sure i'd bother again. Also the buggy we got all be it nice takes up about 95% of the boot space and is difficult to collpase, neither I thought about before buying (dumb I know) so have a play with it, check you can pick it up, fold it down and how much of your car space it will take up and whether or not that is an issue for you.

 

The capsule also clicks into a base in the car and this feature I really do like, makes clicking in and out very easy.

First buggy we bought was a Bertini Shuttle. This was OK, but if we had thought ahead would have bought a Phil & Ted right from the start, as it is great for two children.
Our 2 year old used to hate the bertini pram, but as soon as we got the Phil & Ted Sport was really happy to go in it.

Although I love my phil n teds as its perfect for two kids, I'd prefer a mountain buggy.

I've got a milano with the capsule (possibly the same one you were looking at). I think it is good value for the price - the only downside is that it doesn't fold up very small at all. . .

I have a basic mothercare pram from farmers with 4 wheels and it's honestly so brilliant. Not big and bulky like the 3 wheelers and so easy to fit in a small boot or the back seat or wherever it needs to go! I would have liked the one that the capsule attaches to - but Thomas got used to being put in and out of his into the pram so it wasnt an issue. Oh my one was $99

We have the milano capsule / stroller / base its ok if you've got a reasonable si\zed boot. I had a little mirage 2 door hatch and if i took off the wheels it fitted perfectly with a bit of room on top for the shopping.

The stroller is a wee bit heavy. like 12kgs. but then im a pip squeak.

The capsule base thing is a must so much easier and safer coz its a PITA when the seat belt doesnt go around.

I've got a Phil and Teds Sport, but it's only the most recent in a long line of buggies lol!

I started out with a cheap 3 wheeler from the Baby Factory, it was brilliant and I used it to death pretty much - it made about a dozen trips to Oz and back, plus trekked all around London, up and down the underground etc. before it finally fell apart when Maya was nearly 2.

Then I bought a Babylove Pioneer 2 which I , but I don't think you can get them anymore.

Then when I had the gremlins I bought another Babylove, the twin version of the Pioneer. It was too big and bulky so I bought a Childcare twin stroller to use when shopping etc.

Then I got rid of them both and got the Phil and Teds. The only reason I got it was because it was far smaller and easier to manouevre than the twin buggy and it could take both gremlins.

I'm not that in love with it, even less so since I had lil miss. It's a PITA to sit up from newborn position so if she's asleep and wakes up I have to take her out and get someone to hold her so I can sit it up coz the clips at the back won't do up with her weight against them.

Plus when the gremlins are in it, the one in the toddler seat often undoes the clips which means the one in the main buggy falls straight down on top of them.

And the brake is a PITA, I have to put it on and off with my hand as it's far too stiff.

Things I do like about it - it is light, folds small and is easy to fold, doesn't take up much space in shops etc., copes well with both gremlins or one gremlin plus lil miss, it reclines further than a lot of other models and it's pretty hardwearing.

I also had the snap and go wheels for the capsule, I hired them from TBF and they were a great investment coz I used them all the time when she was younger. She's still in the capsule now but I don't use the wheels as much coz she's not usually asleep when I get her in and out of the car any more.

If I was just buying a buggy for one child, I'd probably go with a Mountain Buggy.

Hi, we have a double mountain buggy & absolutely love it and every one I know raves about their single Mountain Buggy too.

I love my Phil N Ted Sport. It is absolutely awesome. Folds up small, rugged, can have two kids, easy to manouvre and has a lie flat for sleepy bubbas. We had an adventure buggy before the Phil n Ted and found it to be remarkably average.
