Topic: when to move DD to her own room? Posted: 05 November 2008 at 7:44am |
Just wondering when you moved your baby to their own room? DD is nearly 6 mths and is still in her cot at the end of her room. We're fine with this at the moment as she sleeps all night, but I don't want to leave it too long and she won't settle when we finally move her into her room!

mine were about 6 mths i think. i had them in a bassinette tho and moved them when they got too big and started with giving them day sleeps in their cot in their own room.

I think I read somewhere that at 6 months they start to develop an awareness of whos around them and not want to be left alone so that if you were going to put them in their own room to sleep - it was a good idea to do so before they were 6 months. I guess it would just make the transition easier on them.

I agree, around 6mths too, we moved our daughter into her room around 5mths when she started to grow out of her bassinet, then over a couple of weeks transitioned her into her cot at night also in her own room.

We have just moved DD at 4 months. She was in a bassinette, which I put inside the cot for a day or two, then she had a day sleep in her cot and is now in there full-time. I think the mobile has been the big drawcard for her liking the cot!

I started Joel in his cot at 6 weeks as he kept disturbing everytime we got up or DF snored!! He started out having his day sleeps and then night I forgot and left him in his own room. he was fine straight away, but he is younger and less aware than a six month old.

Five weeks. Sam quickly grew out of his basinette because he was so tall and big. I just transitioned him into his cot over a week or so for day sleeps and then eventually he was in there full time.
ETA: Had to fix up my shoddy typing!

we moved Jack out of his bassinette in our room to his cot in his room at about 5mths. I think he had his naps in his room for a few weeks first before I moved him in there at night as well
