Topic: When does the diarrhea stop?! Posted: 02 January 2008 at 11:40am |
Oh man, I've been through so many nappies it's not funny. Sam is feeling a lot better since coming down with a gastro bug, and keeps almost everything down and is in good spirits, but the explosive diarrhea just won't let up. He has a terrible rash from it too and I just feel so bad changing his nappy because I know that wiping him only hurts him more.
He is drinking formula, pedialyte and eating a small amount of solids, but he's just not peeing. At least I don't think so. The diarrhea is so runny that I can't tell whether there is wee in there or not. Up until he does poo, the nappy is bone dry.

Instead of wiping him clean shower him off onstead. We had to do that for a few weeks when Josh had one mega rash.
As for how long. Josh's usually last a few weeks.

Ok thanks for that because I keep reading all these things about how you should take them back to the doctor if it hasn't stopped within 24 or 48 hours! Shower time for Sam!

Daniels only lasted 4 days, he was at the docs every day for a quick once over every time. Our doc likes to be cautious with lil ones so just told us to pop in at the end of the day whenever.
Hope he gets better soon.

I took Josh back every few days, just as my dr wanted him back there every few days to make sure he was all ok. If his butt is quite bad get some cream for him from the dr and from the chemist some silicone it'll help with the healing.

When Brae was little & had runny poos (like brown water) We went to the doc & had to take samples of the wees & poos. He had a little bag stuck over his willy & i had to scrape fresh poo from the nappy
