Help girls!

We are getting married at the start of next year and are also desperate to start a family. Now I know everyone is completely different, but I wouldn't mind being one or two months pregnant at the wedding. So the question is to you all when did you start to show? Also I'm a bit worried about morning sickness and don't know if I could cope feeling like death on my wedding day. A few friends have said to wait till after the wedding, but we'd like to get a move on a little earlier. I just don't want to be showing or throwing up on my wedding day.   I've been off the pill for over a year now, when should I start taking folic acid?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks heaps

I was 9 weeks preggo on my wedding day and i was worried about showing and about morning sickness but to be honest as long as you talk to your dress maker and tell them your pregnant they will work with you and in regards to the morning sickness mine disappeared for most of the day coz i was so nervous about the wedding itself, as soon as we were about half way through the reception it came back but i was wearing seabands after that which helped.

Start taking folic acid now aswell

I was 16 weeks preg on my wedding day and only really just started to pop out in the week before it! But the style of some gowns can just hide bumps and lumps, so you couldn't see my bump at all. I also had a dress that laced up at the back so I could tighten it to accompany my bump if I got bigger or uncomfortable closer to the day.

My morning sickness was gone by that stage as well (though it wasn't overly bad at all to start with). And yes, start the folic acid now!

i agree with both of the above. i was 4.5 months pregnant on my wedding day and thanks to a well cut dress you can only barely notice my bump if you're looking for it. we actually quite like that you can see a little bump, it somehow makes it seem a little bit more special. oh and thankfully by that stage my nausea had passed.

well if you are getting married anytime before March next year you would basically need to be pregnant already to be showing. Eg if you found out you were pregnant this month you would only be five weeks pg for a February 07 wedding and so only 8 weeks or so for a March 07 one. Depending on when your wedding is it sounds like you wouldnt be showing nor have many if any signs anyways.
Best of luck ttc too. Start taking folic acid / vitamins as soon as you can. There are some good ones out there. I find the mix vitamin ones better than straight old folic acid! I would also suggest you go see your doctor esp as you say youve been off the pill for a year now.

Hehehe... I was 7.5 months pregnant when I was a bridesmaid for my best friend. We (the bridesmaids) had dresses with an empire line (the skirt falls from just under the bust) and lots of people on the day commented that they didn't even realise I was pregnant until I stood side on!

Bombshell, am I missing something? If she found out she was pregnant now, wouldn't she be due in early '07?

I started showing at probably around 12 weeks - probably because I always had a flat tummy all the best in ttc

Start taking folic acid any time now, they say it's good to start having it even if you're just TTC. With the wedding thing, I was 20 weeks on my wedding day, and showing - just found a dress to accommodate my bump, see?

Was also thrilled that my nausea had basically passed at that stage, since it was a morning wedding and we went out for a big brunch afterwards.

well if she is not pg yet...and assuming that is the case....then earliest she would be due would be mid to late feb or march 07....would hardly be showing then. You guys already know you are pg and due jan or Feb - am guessing from post that tyler666 isnt pg YET!!!
But def sending some baby dust to get there soon.

Sorry for the confusion girls. Should of made myself a little clearer.

Our Wedding is in January. What I mean is I wouldn't mind being 1, 2 or 3 months pregs at the wedding, but saying that I really don't want to be feeling like crap on our special day. I suppose that's the risk and with morning sickness you just never know. Some girls are lucky and don't suffer from it and then I've heard horror stories when she girls just want to die.

So basically we wouldn't start trying till around November. Should I still start taking folic acid tabs now?

Thanks so much girls

Folic acid is good for whenever you start TTC, onwards, so if you're off the pill now but using some other contraception, you wouldn't need to worry bout it yet.  But if there is a chance you'll concieve, you're better off taking it.  See your GP or a homeopath to get the correct dosage though - some of the tabs in the shops aren't the correct amount for pregnancy or pre-pregnancy.

I was violently ill on my wedding day (not pregnancy though) and while it certainly didn't ruin our wedding for me, it caused a lot of stress for my bridal party looking after me!  Once pregnant, I was sick every day from 6 weeks to 12 weeks... I don't know if morning sickness would have marred a wedding day for me, but I do know that over those weeks I wasn't keen to do much socialising and would have been too tired for an event like my own wedding, too!  You know your own body better than anyone else though - and morning sickness does tend to take on a similar pattern to that of your mother's, so that might give you a starting point for guessing how ill you're likely to become (if at all... there's always hope!!).  Also, do you want to eat delish cheeses and pate and cold meats and have a glass of bubbles on the day?

I went off the pill in December last year and got pregnant on my first cycle. My wedding was on 28 January this year so I was 6 or 7 weeks pregnant and not even my parents knew I was pregnant, they were shocked when I told them at 9 weeks. Basically I would doubt if you would actually show before 12 weeks, esp if you are a first timer...having said that everyone is different and there is always an exception (twins being one of those - if you conceive twins you will show earlier). It depends a lot on your height and build too. I am 5 ft 6, and weigh 65kg, size 12 normally. So not small but not big. And you definately could not tell with me until after week 16. INfact I only told my staff at work in week 19 and they had no idea and were quite surprised! My friends that have been pregnant for the first time have all showed after week 15 - but those that are pregnant for the second time tend to show a lot quicker cos their tummies are more stretched out from the first one.
As for the mornign sickness, I had all day sickness....and it all started about 5 days before my wedding. It's nothign I couldnt live with but I must say that if I had it to do over again I might have waited that extra month. Ofcourse I am happy I got pg so quickley but I did find it hard running around gettign last minute things done when all i wanted to do was throw up and curl up in a ball on the floor. On the day of my wedding I was pretty excited and i think thats what got me through, towards the end of the night I did feel pretty tired and sick though, and we left much earlier than we would have if I had been feeling good. And I couldnt drink - I didnt mind too much I knew it was for the best but it was a bit of a bummer hiding that I wasnt drinking and watching all my friends and family drink my lovely champagne and having a roaring party...but I mean all that aside it was fine.
Oh and also we had 2 weeks honeymoon in aussie and I was sooo sick man, it wasnt really nice, i really couldnt appreicate the holiday but at least i wasnt sick while havin to go to work...
I guess it depends what matters to you most - dresses can be designed to suit bumps, it's not that important to drink at your wedding, your honeymoon is after all just another holiday...but at the end of the day you need to be willing to give these things up or alter them a little if you are pg by then...if you dont mind doing that (and i didnt) then go for it...
best of luck with whatever you decide...

I starting showing around 15 weeks with my monster and just expanded from there.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I had morning sickness from 7 - 20 weeks. It was horrible. I spewed a lot during those months and would have hated to have spent anytime at all hanging my head over a loo on my wedding day.

Personally I would wait if I was you.
