I had this with my first preggy, but just kind of ignored it... now it's back with preggy #2 and I really want to find out more....

When I'm lying in bed reading (lying on my back, head propped up with 2 pillows) and if I laugh (or sneeze) I get a really bad pain across part of my tummy. It feels like I've pulled the muscle, and it sometimes takes around 30 seconds for the pain to go away.
It also happens if I don't sit up carefully - but I can understand that as it's probably putting strain on the tummy.

I'm around 23 weeks, but not massive by any means (haven't cranked out the maternity clothes yet) - and I've been getting these pains for a while now. Again, I'd understand if it was the last few months and I was massive and I was getting them - but now?

I'll ask my midwife next time I see her, but thought I'd pop on here first and see if anyone has any wisdom on this...

Just the muscles and ligaments I'm small too but my insides are still stretched alot. I get it when I'm just sitting too sometimes.

Its painful isn't it? But nothing to worry bout unfortunately as far as I've been told nothing to do to help either

I got this also. MW ended up telling me off cause I had caused it by not getting help to sit up in early pregnancy. All the ligaments and tendons had of course relaxed off and by me trying to sit up unassisted, I had strained them and pulled a muscle.

It hurt for a long time as well. Coughing and sneezing were agony and I had to literally roll out of bed onto my knees on the floor then get up from there as I couldn't sit up on my own.

Wheatpacks help. Use your arms to sit yourself up, or get someone to help you up, or roll out of bed. If you try to stop using those muscles as much as possible, the pain should get better.
