My Fiance and I are planning to start TTC in April next year. We have a DD who will be 3 in July and she was born at 35 weeks and I am nervous about what will happen with another pregnancy and what the process will be because DD was prem. If anyone has been in this or a similar situation I would love to talk to you. Thanks

My son turned 3 in October. He was born at 34 weeks. We started ttc about 3 months ago and ve just had a positive test. I don't know why my son was early so I don't know what extra things I'll need to do this time round. I spent a long time being too scared of what might happen and I still am scared but I guess I reached the point where the desire for another baby outweighed the fear. Not necessarily helpful but I think it's probably a journey you need to go on and reach that tipping point yourself.
Hey. oh CONGRATULATIONS!!!! thats so exciting for you!! Thanks for responding! Ive definitely gotten to that tipping point. Was it mentioned to you what the likelyhood of having another prem was? I got told 50/50 chance. I also dont know why my daughter was prem. I would love to keep in touch with you through your pregnancy if youre willing.
Will you use the same midwife this time?

Hi Lease. Thanks. No one seemed to know why my son was prem - there was mention of blood clots in his placenta so maybe a placental abruption. I've never got anyone to give me any likelihood of another prem but I get the impression it is higher than normal. I would love to use the same midwife but she has moved cities since my son was born so I trying to find another. I'm lead to believe it may be difficult to get someone to take me on with a history of prematurity but we'll see. I also don't know if I'll have to go under the high risk team at the hospital or not. The fact I don't currently have a GP isn't helping me get organised. I am very happy to keep in touch with you. I'm not sure how is best to exchange details - is there a private message function on here?
Hi Laura, I have similar with my daughter. No known reason for her being prem. How are you doing now? Have you got a midwife yet? I never thought that midwives might not take on someone with a history of prem birth.. My midwife has retired too but I had a different midwife at my daughter's birth so am hoping to go with her. Which part of Wellington are you in? I will have a look and see if I can find a private message function. Otherwise I'm happy to link my fb profile if that works too,

Hi Lease, I'm doing ok thanks, not too sick. I have found a midwife and have my first appointment next week. She is going ot do some digging and see if she can find out any more about why my son was born early so we know whether there are any precautions I can take, what to look out for, or whether I need a referral to high-risk at the hospital. I'm in Karori and work in the CBD. I can't find a private message function so if you want to link me to your FB profile that will work.
Hey Laura, here is my fb profile. https://www.facebook.com/leaselou thats awesome youve found an understanding midwife! You can request you medical notes from the hospital too but that is probably whst your midwife is doing. I have a copy of mine and my daughters notes from her nicu stay. How far along are you? are you going to request an early scan?
