Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of some tips on conceiving a girl. We have jsut had our baby Boy and although not in a hurry to try again too soon we would like to try for another baby when Jaxon is about 1 year old. We would love to give him a little sister one day. If we concieve another little boy we would stil be over the moon. We will just keep trying, and whe we have a little girl too then our family will be complete. I have heard there are are different positions etc and time of ovulation.

I personally think it's all down to genes and pot luck LOL
Everything I read (old wives tales and scientific info) said that we were having a boy... out popped a girl!
So who knows?!?!?!

(sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear )

You can do a search for info on google.

I know the main thing that people do go by that is the most successful is the speed of sperm. I think the male swimmers are slower than the female ones, and one lives longer than the other so if you BD longer before O, then one type of swimmers is more likely to get to the egg first. Positions effect this to, due to depth of penetration. (you would have to search for the right info though, sorry!)

There is also stuff about what you eat with male swimmers and female swimmers prefering a different type of environment when they are egg hunting - one more acidic I think.

It can take longer to concieve when you are focussed on that sort of concieving though.

my cousin says that my hubby only has girl batter! lol... we have 3 girls. i have heard that a low sperm count may also be more likely to concieve a girl. i do know that boy sperm die quicker so i guess that it is better to have sex a few days before o.

From what I have read, boy sperm is faster but dies earlier whereas girl sperm is slower but lasts longer. So for a girl try & time BDing a couple of days before you are due to ovulate. Also heat affects sperm & because girl sperm last better if your man keeps his bits warm (LMAO this sounds so dodgy!) by tight undies and numerous hot showers and/or exercise before sex, he is more likely to send girl sperm your way... Note: "more likely", definitely not foolproof.

I know a couple that took them 7 times before they got a girl. They now have 7 boys and 1 little girl.

I know I would like to have a girl next - I would be ganged up on heaps if we had 3 boys and Dh then just me the only female in the house. But it does just come down to luck and timing. There was a show on Prime a few weeks ago and the ad had the woman saying "I just googled conceiving a girl" so see what that gets you.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Yeah what was said above is true- girl sperm are supposedly stonger but slower (ie it will take them longer to get to the egg but they will live inside you for longer). If you BD 5-2 days before O then that can help. Apparently they prefer a more acidic environment too- I have heard of doing a white vinegar douche before BDing to help and you can eat certain foods as well.

There are a few books out there with alot of theories- internet searches can give you some ideas too. You could always go to Taiwan and do a 'spin the sperm' hehe

I wouldn't get your heart set on these 'theories' working though. From what I read it seemed very loosely based on science.

OK the whole "lets try and conceive a girl" is a whole lotta hog wash! They say BDing heaps gives the boys a chance and BDing less gives the girls a chance, then there is a diet etc (whole lotta crap) then there is the PH levels of your CM (also another whole lot of crap)

At the end of the day its genes and sperm and your husband. We did the Sperm meets egg plan and everyone guessed due to CM and bd timing that we were having a boy LOL

Luck of the irish i say that we got a girl after 86 years of boys

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news chicka!
