QuoteReplyTopic: 3 month old - time up last nap to bedtime Posted: 23 April 2011 at 3:23pm
I have a 3 month old who settles really well for his day naps but come evening, does not settle well at all. Hes up for about 1 1/4 hours between each nap during the day but seems wide awake in the evenings and I'm just not sure how long I should keep him up from the end of his last nap until bedtime, I've been trying about 2 hours but he doesn't agree with me. I know each baby especially at this age is different but wondered what others do in the evenings, do you still put your baby down after about the same length of time as for the rest of their day or leave them up longer and if so how much longer?
With Chloe it depends if she will sleep the last nap before bedtime then she up about an hour hour and half before going to bed that time includes feed bath ect... But some days she just won't have a pre bedtime nap and tends to be up from 3pm until 7 pm
When my wee fellow was that age he would do 1 to 1.5 hours between day sleeps, but 2hrs 45 before going down for the night. If I tried to get him down any earlier it just didn't work even if he was showing sleepy signs.
Hello... I am the same as the above... well, my baby is!
Usually up about 1.5hrs between naps during the day time (day starts about 6 or 7am) and then NEVER sleeps for last nap of the day anytime after 4 or 5pm so we keep him up for around 2 hrs but no more than 3 hrs... so would feed at start of awake time and then at the end would feed him to sleep after bath.
Will scream blue murder if we tried to put him down at that time of the day.
My two boys have both been completely different. DS1 was still having his 3rd nap (4-5pm) at 9mo so was up for a max 1.5hrs at 3mo between all sleeps.
DS2 on the other hand, hasn't consistently napped in the afternoon since he was about 3mo BUT some days he definitely needs it and will go off to sleep at about 4.30 for half an hour. He seems to settle best at night if he's up for 2hrs before he goes down for the night. Any more, he gets his second wind and is a real pickle to get to sleep!
