Can anyone recommend a good kids laptop for ages 4+. I haven't really looked into one until now so not sure whats really out there. Would ike it be able to last for at least a couple of years and if possible to be able to get extra games etc to add it to.
I have seen the netbooks for like $400 and sometimes on a special for like $300. I am thinking of either getting one this year or next year for McKayla. That way it is a real computer with enough memory on it to do some of the games (not too much graphics) but more basic educational games.
I think 4yrs would be fine on a computer. Mine were, I never got them kids ones as I thought they were a waste of money & too limited.
We have some really good games for them & all my kids are really good on the computer & it is a real advantage as they have a room at school with computers that they use once a week so DS3 who started school recently knows his way around a computer & is really good at it...that's to my IT DH
to update we decided to get a normal laptop for her. At the moment she uses my laptop so we thought later on in the year we might get a cheap laptop that is for the kids to use. I thought all the ones on the market looked too limited and would end up being a waste of money so good to know that others have the same opinion
Good idea getting a normal laptop for her, I think those kid type ones are a bit of a waste of money as they are so limited! My DD uses my iMac no worries at all, loads the internet and can navigate to the kids sites that I have shown her how to use. Its quite scary how much she can do on it already
You all have a great point :) DS currently likes to hop on our computer and play on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and after seeing your responses and seeing the images that those kiddy laptops give (gosh reminds you of the old Atari haha) I think the noveltty would wear off fast.
