DP and l are off to Melbourne next month, just wondering if anyone can suggest any 'must do's' while we are there (we arrive Fri morning and leave Sunday night)
Neither of us have been before so any suggestions welcome.
(We were originally going to the Kings of Leon concert but its been cancelled )

You definitely have to go down to St Kilda and walk along Ackland Street and have coffee and cake at one of the many amazing cake shops, nom nom.

Dinner on Lygon St! Mmmm... so good!
I second St Kilda, and the river walk, plus the food parts of the Queen Victoria Market are pretty cool (actual market stands are a little average).

That sucks KoL are cancelled!!! But yay for still going to melbourne! We went about the same time 2 years ago, stayed in St Kilda so I walked Ackland street daily. We actually stayed in the apartments right next to Mcdonalds that's at the top of ackland street . I google-eyed the cake shops (there's about 4 of them!) and finally after about day 4 decided to just get one!! So yeah, you gotta go to St Kilda, just for the cake shops!

We're going in April for a couple of days. Love the shopping (DFO is great) and love all the eateries on Swanston Street, some really yummy Asian options. We did go to Lygon Street last time but I think we had such high expectations (because everyone raved about it) that we were dissapointed! Plus walking along all the restaurants its really hard to know which one to go in. I love going to Target.
It will be great to have a few days away from the kids but I'm sure we will spend all our time shopping for them!

Yep, definitely walk down South Bank at night and watch the fire at the Casino! Eat ice cream from Trampoline while you are there, so freaking yummy!!
I think the aquarium is really neat, a bit expensive, but still. The zoo is ok, not as good as Auckland zoo IMHO.

st kilda beach, china town, the market, shops, the small alleyway that is 'professionally' graffitied is pretty awesome.
the zoo is amazing (but not in 34 degree heat LOL)
