Topic: Anyone got UTD when no +OPK?? Posted: 16 November 2010 at 4:46pm |
Hi, need some advice! I have been using OPK tests for 4 months now and most months never get a +OPK (some months there is a slight line but its never darker). However I have had blood tests and they defin say I have ovulated and I chart my BBT and it also says I ovulate. My cycles are 28 days exactly every month. Am I just missing the surge or are my levels not high enough to show up on a OPK?
Has anyone got pregnant when a +OPK didnt appear?
Any advice is greatly appreciated

You may be missing the surge
If I get a faint line about 3pm I will do another that night at about 10pm just so I dont miss it.
I also dont drink an hour or so before doing a test.
Not sure about the preggy thing, but if your getting +ve BT that OV has occured you can deff get pregnant

Yup, I used OPKs for a few months when TTC DD. Never got a positive once (I was working full time so may have been taking them at the wrong time of day as wasn't keen to poas at work lol). Anyway, apparently didn't ovulate the month DD was conceived (according to OPKs) but pretty sure I did
Didn't bother with them this time!
Good luck, hope you get your much deserved BFP really soon!!!

I never really figured them out, the only time I got a true positive OPK was the day before I found out I was UTD so it's definitely possible. I think like anything they have their limitations and watching your body's signs is the most reliable way to go

thanks ladies, thats good to know that i shouldnt just rely on the OPK tests and that I could still get pregnant, its frustrating every month doing them & wasting money on them and getting no real +ve when my BT say I defin ovulate. maybe im just missing the surge and not testing at the right time.........

Me! Ok it was a Hinky cycle but I had an almost positive a day or two after my period finished then nothing but negatives. According to my temps I OV'd about 5 days later. Grublet measures about right for OV date as well.

I've been getting the same, I've never seen a positive OPK here! What is the best time to catch the surge, any tips?

Hi ladies
I do know that OPKs aren't recommended for women with PCOS (It is stated some where on the information leaflet) as you can get some false positives or misleading results due to raised LH levels.
I started off using OPKs before I was diagnosed with PCOS and couldn't figure out why I was getting a "positive" result no matter which time of the month I tested - turns out I don't ovulate and it was my raised LH levels (due to PCOS) that was giving a "false positive" result.

Hi Tiff8ny...what time of the day are you testing?
I test when I get home so 5pm, and tend to overtest each month to make sure I don't miss it. Personally I don't OV every month but did get the positive OPK this month, and the temp rise following.

Hey monkeys, I test when I get home around 5.30 also as its such a hassle doing it at work! So I have only been doing it once a day. Maybe I should be trying twice a day? I wonder if I ovulate every month too........ although everytime I have gone for a blood test they say I have ovulated.

The blood tests would be accurate though you would think anyway! My temps are my dead give away as I don't get any sustained rise when I don't OV.
I normally can start to see the line a day or 2 before, and gradually see it get darker to a positive, I would have thought that once a day would be enough, but there can be no harm in trying twice!
I go through so many of them, but would prefer to be sure :-) Exciting about the IVF coming up!! I am just going through my tests for the FA referral, man I wish this TTC thing was easy!

yea i chart also and it seems i do always get a temp rise every month so thats good. When I do the OPK tests I do get the other line, it just never gets as dark as the main line. So its nearly a positive just not a strong positive!
This TTC thing is defin not easy hun so I feel your pain! we have been trying for 3 years now and finally our first public funded IVF is in sight after waiting for so long! cannot wait to get it started although wish we didnt need to go down the IVF path, but if thats what it takes then bring it on!

Yeah IVF isn't ideal but completely agree - whatever it takes, and once that gorgeous wee bubs is safely in your arms you won't even think about how it happened
FX your first cycle is either not necessary or is the only one
