Anyone been diagnosed with this and managed to get (and stay) pregnant? Naturally? How long were you ttc?
Did you have treatment for it, and if so, what was the treatment. Not sure whether to post this in the 'infertility forum' or not
Any stories of hope out there gratefully received?

Hi spanky, I must admit I have been checking out your chart in the charting thread and wondering how you were going. I haven't been diagnosed with any fertility problems so can't share from personal experience. I googled this as TBH had never heard of it. Is it endometriosis? I know of someone that has endometriosis and did concieve naturally (I think) in 6 months. I will contact them for you and hopefully they can offer some advice, or at least someone else on here can.

hey spanky
im bobstas mate

I was diagnosed with both endo and adeno a few years ago. I had LAP surgery on it to remove it in JAN 08 after trying numerous pills, having scans and bloods.

I think the LAP and charting is what helped us conceive, that and im still young (which is why we started), i am 22.

We stopped protecting oursleves for a month or two then started charting...on the 6th month of trying properly and charting we got pregnant with this one and she has stuck. I am veryu fortunate to have not suffered through the horror of a mc

I do sympathise with you as i worried so bad every month when TTCing as to why it wasnt working and blamed myself coz of my known issues.
I also got varying information for e.g you may have trouble conceiving but once you have you should carry fine, others would say you will probably connceive fine but may suffer multiple MC's...
to this day i dont know which is right and just count myself lucky that i concieved in a very reasonable timeframe and have a sticky baby...

if ya want someone to chat to or ask advice or anything feel free to PM me

goodluck and babydust from one endo baby to another

Oh Bobsta, I've been following your thread in the other forum (just haven't posted), forgot my chart was in charting girls (probably one of many . . . I'm not really going in them 2 threads cos . . . too much focus on ttc and I need to NOT think about it so much atm!). My chart is well bizarre this month, aye?!

Adeno is supposed to be similar to endo, but not strictly the same condition. Not sure that the ttc difficulties between endo and adeno are related/same.
I know its supposed to be really hard to conceive with endo, but isn't it once you've conceived its usually ok? Whereas with adeno I'm reading the difference is something to do with the uterus' difficulty with getting the spermies to the right place, from reduced blood supply to the embryo, to just generally reducing your chances completely. Conflicting info on the net, so hence asking here for first hand anecdotal.
Not enough research into exactly what the fertility issues associated with adeno are (because how can you research when you can't diagnose for certain unless you have a hysterectomy?)

I've been diagnosed, in as much as the USS has indicated sub-endometrial cysts. I guess my age (early 30's) and history of weirdo bleeding has reinforced this.
The concern really lies with conception and mc. From what the specialist has said, there is no further way of diagnosing for sure, so its always going to be a possibility not a certainty.
Treatment, from what I can gather, seems to be mainly for management of the symptoms, and either renders you infertile, or puts ttc on hold with no guarantee of altering the condition long-term.
So either way, ttc shouldn't be an issue (yet the specialist did not seem keen for us to ttc)

Thanks for your reply BAM, and welldone with your preg

Hey Spanky,

I had a two ultrasounds at end of last year and start of this year in which they said I had subendo cysts which they suspected were adneo. I to had a period of strange bleeding (which eventually came right on it;s own after about 4-5 months)... I was having alot of difficulty conceiving/ maintaining a pregnancy). Then I had a hysterscopy (where they dilate ya cervix and put a camera in to have a look)... they found no adneo, no polyp (as also suspected) and put it all down to a hormonal imbalance and refered me to a FS... after the hysterscopy my bleeding came right (they flush ya uterus with water so maybe that did something to clear the lining)... I then changed my vitex and got UTD and so far so good... So maybe you could request a hysterscopy as it shows the lining more clearly than US??
mum to 3 lovely girls :D

Thats another thing, this is the 3rd tv scan I have had in 12 months, and the first to pick up on subendo cysts (and potentially arcurian ute), so either its 'developed' in 6 months, or there's 2 "less observant" sonographers in the area!
Bleeding has been going on over 18months now.

Hysteroscopy is the same as HSG test - the dye thingy? I had a sample taken with pipelle (bloody horrible procedure) and this sounds similar painwise, but I have heard before about how with the HSG lots of women have got utd afterwards. So would suck it up and focus on the hopeful end resul. And if it IS adeno and this can show it more clearly then at least I have more knowledge of what I am dealing with.

I apparently go back to the specialist in 6 weeks, not sure how responsive he would be to my asking for certain procedures; he was pretty shocking last week, dismissive of my questions and didn't really answer anything. But sucking this up too atm as he is sort of 'the gatekeeper' to moving forward after me waiting 6 months to get seen (well, nearly 18months if we're counting the first time I approached a GP about this!).

He did mention potential referral to RE (I asked my GP to refer me at the same time but she would only do one at a time) but thats another 6 months wait, if I get referred on at all

Oh and was in a rush to finish post and get it posted yesterday, but hey, BAM, I get the month to month weird head stuff too. Technically have been off the wagon (waiting to see gynae and not wanting to muck that up coupled with mashed MC head issues still - STILL!! - ) We 'tried' in Jan and Feb at the right times etc, and THAT was bad enough (oh and last year too) every time you're like 'whats this twinge - is something implanting????' oooh should I even be going to gym and going hard out
And all for nothing, blah blah blah.
6 months, jesus I think I'll be a nervous wreck after that! I know lots of people think the same; when someone says to me 'god you know so much about womens cycle stuff (funny cos I come here and I seem to know jacksh*te)' well, its not cos I WANTED to have to know it, no -one really does do they, its more that when things aren't happening or go wrong that you have to start reading up and finding out about things.

You say you had the lap to 'remove it" I'm presuming this was just the endo? Or can you get it removed through surgery (I jknow there's ablation, but that isn't really an option for women who want kids?)
Its just the guy I saw last week, seemed to think surgery wasn't an option . . .

yeah the LAP just removed my endo but it was all over my uterus and pelvic walls, ironically not as much on my ovaries.

i still think that that helped though.
Yeah i could be a gynae almost with the amount i know and learnt over the last two years+ of being on OB...its amazing how much we never knew about our own bodies isnt it.

i was going crazy after the 3rd month as we were timnig it right Every month lol lets just say there was always some men in there to do their job but it never happend.
I tried lube which i think helped get them up far enough and live longer on the cycle we got UTD and also attribute this preg to that, but who really knows.

i tried all the natural remedies for things like taking vitex and B6 etc to fiddle with my cycles and ended up using OPK's as well.
The only thing that pissed me off is no one took me seriously because im "so young" even with my history and proof of cycles over the 6 months they wouldnt help they said until wed been trying 18months which i think is ridiculous when you know you have a known fertility issue.

The next step for me to "cure" myself is to try an IUD once bubs is born as they tried all different pills and i refused the depo. then if that IUD doesnt help i will back to running pill packs back to back to avoid AF until they will give me a hystorectomy which will be a min of 10years away as they wont do it young...plus i do want to try for a boy after this.

ironically i also believe the month before i concieved i MC'd just very early, my gut and heart felt something different that month and my chart was almost identical to the one i got preg on and looked like a failed implantation, that coupled with a heavier than normal AF and clots im pretty sure.
the cycle i got UTD i also had a very strange looking chart with no clear ov other than my OPKS so this also makes me think i may have MC'd the month before.

I still to this day feel like my baby will come in august not sept but not sure why...

i had this site saved in my browser link and this one link2

and this is what is in my brochure i had:
Treatments for adenomyosis include pain medication and the Mirena IUD which may help reduce pain and bleeding. Most other hormonal treatments have proven ineffective. When symptoms are severe, some women may opt for a hysterectomy which definitively ends symptoms. In most cases, adenomyosis resolves after menopause.

hence why my next method is the mirena IUD after bubs lol i will be opting for a hysterectomy when im 40 hopefully

yeah we're gonna try preseed, I'm hearing good things about that gunk here. If one of the things about adeno is that it stops the sperm getting through, then sounds like preseed is a good move.

I have multivit that has b6 and chasteberry in, I've never taken either seperately (I'm under the impression that B vits need to be taken together as thats how they occur and are absorbed in diet), but I hear these work for some people.

Thats annoying about the age thing, that you didn't get taken seriously, how frustrating. Isn't it usually after 12 months for normally ttc before you can get help (thats without the known endo too I guess)

To be honest, the treatment for the adeno seems more for symptom management than anything else. I don't have enough pain that it stops me doing anything.
My concern with the whole symptoms was the bleeding - that nothing is likely to be able to implant if my uterine wall is breaking down straight after ov for 10 days until af. Seems the odds are stacked against me - if we can get the sperm to the right place at the right time, with preseed, then can an embryo find a nice little space to attach to with a good enough bloodsupply, that isn't going to fall off as soon as its attached. I'm still not convinced this isn't LPD anyway. maybe I'm blessed with both?

I dunno, maybe I'm best off not knowing this stuff in the first place

Thanks for the links too, I think I'd been through the first one already on my googlefrenzy, but the second one. the first one seems to suggest that hysteroscopy is less accurate as a diagnostic tool (unless used with USS)

my LP was 7-8 days as well when i started charting, i took B6 and then vitex which brought my ov closer to normal and extended my LP to about 10days which is sort of minimum, 12 -14 is normal/best
when i got to 12dpo the cycle i got UTD i knew something was up lol, then when i looked at my chart it had a blatent implant dip on 9DPO (xmas day)

low progesterone can cause LPD and that is also what plumps up your uterus tissue to maybe look into hormonal tests if you havent??

yeah i think theres not much they can do for adeno unfortunately other than manage the symptoms...i have debilitating pain with my AF's which sux, hence why i was recommended to run pill packets together to just avoid AF.. they tried me on progesterone only pills, high strength pain killers and stuff too but nothing worked and before i went off the pills altogether to start TTCing i spotted on and off for like 14weeks before they bothered to look into it more...

sounds like we are very similar so im sure you will get there soon too, just going to have to hold your breath each month and go for it!
we used forelife lube as its waaaay cheaper than preseed!

GO to link and order bulk OPKS, HPT's and your forelife here, its super cheap compared to buying from nz chemists and stuff, alot of the charting girls use them aswell....if you bring it up you can probably spark a bulk order with some of them...if you order alone though make sure you ask them for cheaper postage to NZ as their default is international and expensive.

yeah I've had the day 3 and day 21 tests, all came back normal ranges, I was so expecting the progesterone to be too low, as my luteal BBT's are really up and down, drop below cover temp then up then drop a bit etc, I'm not convinced progesterone is as it should be.
The specialist said luteal phase was really hard to diagnose and sort of indicated he wouldn't bother and didn't think it was an issue for me (hello, shortened luteal phase and bleeding from ov to af?), its something that is more looked at through the recurrent miscarriage clinic apparently (obviously nipping it in the bud is not part of public healthcare)
My concern is that I may have to go through another 2 mc's if it IS LPD, cos apparently the baby won;t live past 8 weeks with LPD.
But hey ho. Crossing that bridge etc (and pushing for prog bloods asap if I do get utd). He took bloods, but on CD24 I don't know what he would actually be finding, maybe just a kind of baseline?

Hey I looked up forelife (that link gives you a 404 page), there's lots of warnings about using preseed copies on the net (http://babydreams.co.nz/index.php?pr=Lubricant_Warning for one)
Don't know if this is just coming from preseed wanting to maintain their market or not, but I think I will get some preseed anyway for ov days from the chemist, and just suck up the cost for now. Too many variables I don't have any say over, this one I will!!!! But thanks for the suggestion!

Did you spot through your pregnancy BAM?

ok ta. Think its quicker to go the chem though next week. I don't really bother with OPK's and tests etc, so not sure its worth posting just for one item! I have bookmarked the site though, in case I need to buy in bulk down the track.

Glad about the spotting, or lack of, odd question I know, was just wondering on common-ness of it - rather than starting a whole new thread
