Hi
we are planning on going to Waitomo caves (glowworm caves and Aranui cave) in a few weeks with my husband's parents who are coming to visit from Japan, but unsure whether it will be suitable for a 1 year old? I have been there before, but just wondering whether she might get scared etc? We were wondering whether it would be better if one of us stayed behind with her....or do you think she will be okay? We don't think she is scared of the dark or anything.... what do you think?

She may be ok. We took DS when he was only 3mths old and he didn't really like it (ended up crying when you were suppose to be quiet) but at the time DP had him in the front pack and he may have just wanted to be with me.

They had all the people with children go in one boat so others didn't get disturbed.    There were a few other kids there and they all seemed to enjoy it. And I am sure that if we took him now he would love it.

It is really up to you. She may be ok or she may not. There is only one way to find out

I say go for it You'll never know otherwise

When my eldest was under 1 he didnt really like the busy times with lots of people about, my youngest loves it, i suggest you try to avoid between 11am & 2pm when all the tour coaches are at glowworm.
Have fun
