Hi I was wanting to hear from anyone that has had a csection and has a house with a fairly steep stairs to get upstairs to the bedrooms.
I am having my third csection and now live in a house with fairly steep stairs and was wondering if I might have to organise myself a bed etc and stay downstairs for a couple of weeks until i can comfortably go upstairs carrying a baby......im also very nervous about carrying a baby up and down stairs. I always always hold onto the rail and dont know how easy it will be to hold onto rail while holding onto baby at same time........
I've got steep, narrow stairs and had a c-section. Bedrooms upstairs, toilet and kitchen downstairs. If I did it again, I'd put a bed and bassinet downstairs for a week. I coped ok, but I have to admit there were days I crawled up the stairs it hurt so much - down was easy. up was hard.
Thanks, Luckily I have a bathroom upstairs and downstairs (both have showers), so downstairs would be ideal cos then i have the kitchen also. Maybe at night i could crawl my way upstairs but during the day get DH to drag the bassinet downstairs. Luckily i will have my 14 year old at my place for hols and my 5 yr old is a great helper and my DH will be on hols.......so i should have plenty of helpers and if i can avoid the stairs and only do once a day at night.........
My close friend here had an elective c-section and their bedroom is upstairs. I asked her how she was getting on when I visited her at home and she said she was doing great but she did have DS downstairs with her during the day. She also stayed in hospital for 6 nights after the birth so got LOTS of rest before she came home. I reckon if you have loads of help and can have bubs downstairs during the day you would be OK sleeping upstairs at night
If it were just you going up and down I'd say you'd probably be ok because if worst came to worst you could hold on to the rail and have a breather or go down on all fours.
But with baby as well I recommend thinking about relocating downstairs for at least the first two weeks.
I had an elective C and you are pretty easily fatigued afterwards.
ETA: Sorry duh you would know that having had 2 already - bad preggy brain!
Thanks, lol Bobbie. I had a tough time with DS2 as i got an infection. I bounced back very quickly with DS1, i was only 19 which helped and this time im trying to stay relatively fit so i hopefully will bounce back better than DS2........already my pregnancy is easier than his was, so lets hope the recovrery will be easier also!!!
I will try and stay in hosp as long as my sanity does!! wonder if i could have my laptop and access to the internet???
