Hi, I'm pregnant with my second child. I live in Waiuku and need a midwife. The thing is i think i want to have the baby at a proper hospital with an operating theater just in case (like middlemore) as the birth of my daughter wasn't very straight forward.

I have the list of midwives from the doctor but don't know if any of them travel to middlemore with you or if i should just find a midwife in the city.

Any ideas.

Tania

Hiya,

Im from Pukekohe, but originally Waiuku and my midwife is Cathi Wintle, she is lovely, but she cant travel to middlemore, she does your pre and post natal care. I have a feeling that all of the midwives in Waiuku/pukekohe only deliver babies at Pukekohe maternity(but Im not 100% sure) and if you go to Middlemore you have the midwives there for the actual birth.

With my son I got transfered to Middlemore after my labour wasnt progressing and my MW went with me only to do handover, and this time, I have to birth at Middlemore because I had a c section first time and I cant have Cathi there, but she will see me after bubs is born.

Best thing would be to give her a call(she really is lovely) and see what she says.

i 2nd cathi wintle she is my mw aswell has been with all 3 of my kids and this baby too.

Diane kepmton is lovely also though she doesnt take many patients as im preety sure she works as a hospital midwife at the same time (she may have changed im not sure.
she was at my 2nd babies birth.

i suggest you dont take you time as the good mw's book up very quickly. I booked my mw with in the hr of getting my bfp as i was worried she would be on holiday or booked up if waited.

have you looked at birthcare its a bit far out but the hospital is a walk skip and a jump almost from auckland hospital. I know if i were having hospital birth i would go straight for national womans.
