Hi,

Just wondering if at some point babies should stop cluster feeding.

DS manages about 140 - 160 during the day, he can't be bothered drinking much more he gets soooo distracted and seems to happily last 3 - 3.5 hours between feeds so not worried.

His last feed of the day though he has about 100 before bath, tried going until after the bath but he gets too cross, then just 1 hour later before he goes down he will easily go through 260 - 300 in one sitting without stopping - is this normal? Meaning that he takes about 50% of his daily feed in pretty much an hour.

Just wondered what other babies do.

It sounds alright to me, all babies are very different. Does your wee man sleep through the night? Maybe he is just getting enough to last him until the morning?

He does, we are doing a dream feed but he is less and less interested in it so we may drop it.

Tonight for example he had 100 at 5, 260 at 6, then he went down at 6.30 and went to sleep like a wee angel, unfortunately we are quite close to the railway and a huge steam train came through tooting its horn something rotten and he woke up with a big fright and would not calm down at all, offered him some more and he drank yet more - is out for the count now though.

He's probably in the middle of a growth spurt at 4mos - expect another in 4 weeks' time.

Ah ha, why didn't I think of that.

Last night he woke at 10, rather than us doing a dream feed and was apparently starving!!!

Hi
My little boy must be almost exactly the same age as yours....mine was born on 24 October:)
Jacob has two big feeds just before bed. He is pretty much four hourly so he'll have feeds something like...7.30am;11am;.3pm;5.30pm;7pm
I've always used the feed-play-sleep routine and he's come to the point where he just wants to go to sleep at 7 - and needs that little feed at 5.30pm
Maybe Finley's like Jacob and needs that extra feed before bed???
I'm currently BFing - but have introduced a bottle during the day as i'll have to go back to work in April (boohoo!) so he'll be BF and FF.
