    Posted: 23 December 2008 at 4:42pm
Just went to the specialist today (been ttc since October 07) and it looks as though I have a 5mm polyp in my womb...which the specialist said is the 'perfect contraception'.
I have to go back in Feb and then probably go to the hospital to get it chopped out..
Has anyone else had this and what happened?
I hope this means that after it gets removed that I am super fertile damn it!

Nat, I'm really sorry I have no answers for you. Just really wanted to give you this. In guessing I would say that once it is removed that things will sort themselves out.... I'm surprised that the specialist didnt say what the future may hold for you. I just found out yesterday that I def have PCOS which also is a kick in the guts... though at least I have an answer now. We have been TTC since Nov 2007

Mindy, I am sorry about stupid old PCOS. I was worried that I was gonna have that, not that I have any of the symptoms but am a bit chubs. Apparently the specialist I went to is obsessed with it and I could tell he was expecting me to have it. I had to have a giggle as he said to me 'You like your sweets don't you' and I said no but I like chips. He said 'Well, you won't be eating those ever again' and I thought, well I am cutting down on them, that is true but if you think I am never eating them again you got something coming! Gee I know they are professionals but come on! Gotta have some enjoyable foods in life....holy than thou huh.
Was pretty offended at the time but now just giggle.

Nat
I have fibroids which I thought were similar so I googled them. This is what I found.
Fibroids are quite common, and are benign (noncancerous) tumours of the uterine muscle. Many types of fibroid will not interfere with reproductive functioning, but those that push into the uterine cavity can lead to infertility or miscarriages. A polyp is an overgrowth of tissue in the lining of the uterus, somewhat similar to a wart. Large or multiple polyps can affect fertility, but many polyps are small and won't cause any problems. Polyps and fibroids affect reproduction in the same way as a contraceptive interuterine device. Mmmm.

What is involved in removing a polyp? I had a myomectomy and needed 4 weeks off work.

Well, I just went to specialist again to see if after period my polyp dislodged by itself but no and so am booked in for a small procedure going in through the belly button with a laproscopy thing (don't know much about it) and also he will inject dye at the same time to check that my tubes are not blocked....
I guess I have been pretty lucky as the procedure will be on the 5th Feb so hopefully get some answers after that. And hopefully get pregnant after that haha!

Nat, hopefully the polyp is the cause. I had a funny experience with the dye. I went to the toilet afterwards and everything seemed normal. Then with little warning, blue dye was everywhere. Don't wear your most expensive underwear. Good luck!

Well operation over with but now my question is: should my cycle still be on track with no changes or will have the D&C bit of the procedure made it go wacko?

Hi Nat

Glad your d & c went ok and heres hoping for a speedy BFP!

I counted my d & c as CD1, so esentially a new cycle, but maybe that is something to check with your specialist.

Yes, hope so too!
Counting on March being the month to get myBFP. If it isn't then not really sure what to do....we are living in Kalgoorlie WA and the summers here are hideous, November is hot enough so would imagine what it would be like to be fully pregnant in Dec/Jan....heehee.
We also have our wedding booked for January next year! Kind of expected baby to be well born before then but hasn't worked out that way. Can of course postpone wedding but at the same time want to be DF wife!
arggggh trying for baby really does make life unsettled!
