Topic: Cutting the strings... Posted: 27 June 2008 at 6:01pm |
.... DH and I have decided that it's time for a certain someone to sleep in her cot, in her own room, for the first time tonight.
She's been sleeping in her cot during the day for 2 months now, so she's well used to it.
She's been consistently sleeping through the night for almost a month.
Luckily we have a double bed in her room so I will be sleeping in there with her tonight, just in case.
I don't know why I feel so nervous about this!
She'll probably sleep well... I'll be the one waking every hour
Anyway.
Wish us luck!
I'm secretly hoping she hates it so I can keep her in our room for another week. But we've gotta do it sometime...

Good luck my darling wee Pickles!!
I'm sure all will be fine and you'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner!
I had no choice, after a week or two, the basinette was moved from our bedroom into the hallway outside our bedroom door, Simon couldn't handle the snuffling and whimpers haha.
Best of luck to you lovey!

Oh Good luck!!
LIke Serenity said I'm sure it will all be fine!
What has she been sleeping at night?
We had to move Maddi into her bed a few weeks ago because she had fully out grown her basinette. I must admit that even though She only moved a few meters away (she was sleeping right next to my bed) but I found it hard the first night to get sleep. I had gotten used to hearing every move and it was just reassuring knowing she was right there.
Maddi loved it though. It finally got her sleeping right through again

She's been in her basinette in our room - which she still fits in, just. So another couple of weeks and she'll have no choice!
Thanks ladies

Good luck Charly I hope you all get a good sleep tonight.
It's great that you already have a spare bed in her room, I found it fantastic to be able to sleep in Michaela's room when she was ill or unsettled.

Good Luck I found the first couple of nights the hardest (on me, not her). I kept on having nightmares that she was in trouble in her room and I couldn't get to her (I can't remember what exactly was going on, but it was enough to wake me and for me to rush in and check on her).

Good luck Charly I haven't got to that stage yet either. We're going to move Livvy out soon but are going to wait until after all our travelling and she's settled down.
I hope she doesn't even notice and drops off easily.

Bahaha Bobbie! Just what I was thinking too!
Good luck Charly! I freaked out the first couple of nights as Jack was only 6 weeks old (couldn't handle the snuffling like a hedgehog), and I had dreams that invisible pixies were holding him over his cot and were threatening to drop him... Needless to say I was incredibly sleep deprived so that could have had a part in it (I hope! Otherwise I'm just nuts).

Bahahahah Kate!
I think DH would die of shock if we had sex
Well, that was a raging success!
Down at 8:30pm, little grizzle at 2:30am for 30 seconds (she just dropped back to sleep by herself), and awake and chatting to herself at 6:35am!
This is the kid that wakes at 5am without fail!!
I slept like a log.
I'm going back to my room tonight...but I know I'll probably end up in Hannah's room
Time to dismantle the basinette

Glad it went well Charly. I bet that extra hour and a half sleep was bliss!
DH mentioned something about sorting out the girls room today so that we can move them in there
