Topic: Grrrr BumGenius!!! Posted: 21 May 2008 at 4:26pm |
I have my boy in BumGenius all-in-ones, and have had to change his clothes TWICE today due to leakage around the waist and legs. So this time around, I've put 2 inserts in together, which makes them a bit bulkier, but hopefully will prevent leakage. I haven't put him in them overnight for a long time (I put him in a sposie) as I got sick of having to change sheets in the morning. So I guess my question is, have others had this problem, and have you just doubled up on the inserts, or is there another trick? And if you use them overnight, what is your secret? Thanks.

If you haven't had this problem before perhapes they need stripping? I only have BG pockets, but I find them good. Never have leaking with them, even with just one MF insert on Sophie. What inserts do you use overnight?

We always have 2 inserts in ANY nappy during the day. 1 just doesn't cut it, it will last an hour for us if we only use one insert.
At night hemp/bamboo is the best. We stuff a nappy with a microfibre/hemp trifold and 2 dual layer hemp trifolds. For extra protection we often use a woolen soaker over top of the nappy. His nappy is soaked in the morning, but his butt and the bed is bone dry.
(not sure if you know - a trifold is a flat insert that you fold into 3 )

Yip you will need to use hemp or bamboo overnight, and a soaker is a great idea too. And I forgot to say I always use 2 inserts with Alex during the day, and usually with Sophie - but she can survive with one if we need to.

We use 2 mf inserts during the day, and use a hemp fitted nappy with bamboo booster for overnight (with merino cover or wool longies).

During the day Josh has to have 2 inserts the same and Daniel, 1 doesn't last 20 minutes.
At night I have just gone back to cloth at night and in his nappy he has 2 hemp trifolds, 1 old school flat, and 2 microfibre trifolds. Over top of that he is in longies.

Rohann's still only little (so not as much wee, though she goes all night in one) but we haven't had a problem with our bumgenius. We have had to go back to using them at night and stuff them with a hemp/microfleece flatfold and the original microfleece liner.

Snap!
We use BG OSFA Pockets at night and I find them great (at this stage). I use the insert it came with and a cotton babies microfibre insert.
She does 8-12 hours in it. i.e. 8 if I change her at the dream feed, otherwise 12.

I only needed one insert in mine untill Kyalh was about 4 months, after that, would NEVER go with only one, especially overnight.

That's a good point - Leo only used one insert until he was about 10mths, and then when he started teething he suddenly started weeing more too. He definitely drinks more water now too, whereas when he was younger & bf he didn't drink so much water so that probably contributed as well.

No issues with BG in the day but we couldn't use it as a night nappy. Ours has held up incredibly well -even to the most mega-poos.
Yeah it might need stripping or as Stacey said you may just have a mega wetter who just can't go with a solo insert. I hope you get it sorted soon - clothes changes suck!
