Does anyone with three children still in carseats/capsule have a car that isn't a 6/7/8 seater? Do any station wagons fit three car seats across the back?
I just had a look at a volvo V70 but that wouldn't fit them, shame was a nice car otherwise.

I'm not opposed to a 6/7/8 seater except that they all pretty much don't seem to have any boot space and I need to fit a dog crate plus any other stuff in it, like a pram, toddler bike etc.

I did bring a chrysler grand voyager home for DH to look at but he said no, he reckoned the boot was still too small and that the car was too expensive

I guess it would depend on the size of your carseats but my friends holden commodore fits 3 across the back just.

I have a 4wd (isuzu wizard) which would fit 3 just. But I don't have an anchor point for the middle one which is probably also something to consider.

But the holden wouldn't be good for the crate. But a 4wd would easily accomodate that. I fit a crap load of stuff in mine

I've heard 3 carseats fit across a Holden Commodore. If you got the station wagon it would work with the dog crate too.

We just had a look at a Accord which might suit, the car sales guy recommended either a commodore or a falcon.
The later edition SUV's do have three proper seatbelts, they are a bit monstrous though.

Starting to think three kids means you have to drive a bus or a truck What happened to the good old days when you could chuck the kids in the back of a Cortina with no belts let alone carseats

I drive a Holden Commodore Sedan and it has quite a large boot and fits three car seats easily in the back.

At the moment we have a brio zento and a edinburgh deluxe booster and in DH's car we have two of the edinburgh deluxe boosters. We also have a capsule we could use, was mine, my friend is using at the moment but her boy will be out of it by the time this one arrives. The brio can rear face but the edinburghs can't. The brio is quite wide though 47cm, the edinburghs are 46cm. Have found some other seats (the radians) that are 43-44(depending which site you look on) and they can rear face as well as forward face. Need to take the measuring tape out car shopping I think.

DH is keen to buy the accord and then find carseats to fit if we can't fit a combination of the ones we have already, I don't really want to take that risk.

Ive got a friend who fits 3 in a falcon.
Maybe pop to your local plunket car seat place or simmilar and ask them, Or id be cheeky and take the accord there or baby factory/city on a test drive and check out which carseats would go in. Im sure if you asked the place first they would be ok with it.

I've had 3 carseats in a standard Ford Mondeo before. Actually in the same car we've had 2 x Edinburgh deluxe boosters and a carseat

I know a triplet mum that has a Ford Territory. And also a friend mine (had 3 under 2) has a Holden Captiva.

We have a Toyota Previa. Ugly ugly car but both rows of seats are slideable so you can arrange the seats based on your needs (people or boot space).
With it we were able to go away for the weekend with 2 x sets of dive gear and everything we needed for 2 x 10month old babies without needing a roof rack.

We had a Focus Station Wagon when my girls were born. What we did was go to the shop and fit the seats to see if we could still get someone between the seats.

We have 3 carseats in our Mazda6 wagon. And the boot space is fantastic, we can get out mountan buggy in length ways no problems. We can go away for the weekend camping at the beach with 2 adults, 3 kids and 2 dogs (cavaliers, so not that big).
I love our Mazda 6, but we are going to upgrade to a 7 seater territory next year so the kids can bring friends when we go out.

I've heard of others who have 3 car seats in a Mazda 6 too.

We have a 8 seater Toyota Estima and it is good that you can move the seats around, but we can't get 3 carseats in a row because the middle seatbelt of each row is a retractable lap belt.

We have a Ford Falcon which I love, its a fantastic car but we dont have the 3 seats problem as my eldest is 9 and only in a half booster now.  It seems if you want a bigger vehicle you are limited to either a people mover or a 4WD, I would like a 7-8 seater so we could have room for friends, also need a big enough boot to fit all our groceries and something to dog could jump into would be great as well.  Let us know what you decide on!

We had a look at around, took our current carseats and a tape measure. The mazda 6 does look really good and will fit the Accord was slightly too small, but I think I have pretty much decided on an estima not because we can't three in the back of a station wagon but because I think that it might not be a wise idea. My two already fight in the car, if the little one is in one of his lets annoy my big brother moods, so I can just imagine it amongst three of them. Better to buy a bus and put them in three different seperate areas I reckon!

Lol! Good idea!

We have our 2 older ones in the same row and they can still reach across the gap - thankfully they get on well more often than not. I would move one of them forward, but I'm sure that would cause arguments!
