Hi ladies,

When I was pregnant I struggled to find 'nice' sporty maternity wear. Being a gym junkie I spend a lot of time at the gym / working out.

I'm now thinking of opening up a on-line maternity shop specialising in sports maternity wear.

Do you think there is a market for it here in NZ? I'm thinking of trying to get in brands like Nike and Adidas.

Thanks ladies!

There could possibly a market for it not sure tho, i know that i would've liked something like that when i was preggy, maybe something for breastfeeding and/or something for after having baby as well (something thatll make you feel good when getting back into shape/fit to make ya feel better about yourself and more confident in getting back into it) Hope that make sense, im a lil tired

Good Luck

I wouldve loved something like that also....I found that with BFing I had no sport support when trying to get back into shape after having baby and most of the time when I was out exercising I quite often needed to feed my lil guy but wearing a sports bra with no clips made it very hard and I also worried wearing underwire would affect my ducts.

I think I mightve seen something at Kmart once, but the support was no good for me

I agree with the above posts, I'd be more inclined to buy sports wear for after the birth than while I'm pregnant. Something comfortable that has good support - I'll be looking for this type of thing soon.

I could have done with tops and shorts for walking when I was preggy but I agree with the above posts that I would have brought after rather than before. I started running again about 2 months after the birth of my DD and the sports bra aspect of things was a real problem. I put on a bit of weight while preggy and it took me about a year to loose it and it was hard to get decent sports gear that was big enough for a while.

Good idea..FYI though, Nike don't allow mail order in NZ. Just found that out yesterday. Dumb.

I just wore yoga clothing during pregnancy. I wouldnt have forked out for anything expensive.

Probably even post pregnancy I wouldnt bother, because id figure the weight would come off and it would be useless.

I did buy sports bras though as I was obviously way bigger than before the bump lol .. but otherwise i made do, it didnt take that long till I could fit into my normal gear.
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog

That sounds so great! I would buy some workout clothing! I've seen on some US websites some great pregnant workout clothing, Very tempted!

Icebreaker workout gear is the best, maybe look into that. It is great for regulating body temperature, which is needed I reckon when pregnant!

Good luck, look forward to buying off you! :-)
