Hi, I changed the order of solids and bottles at 8 months and dropped a bottle at the same time, this is what I did:
Breakfast followed by first bottle of the day approx an hour or so after breakfast.
Lunch followed by second bottle at least an hour after, sometimes around mid afternoon depending on when bubs was due a nap
Tea, then third bottle before bed.
I also started giving bubs a biscuit or piece of fruit for afternoon tea, I very rarely give him morning tea as he is usually having his morning nap around this time.
Hes now 9 1/2 months and above seems to be working well, he did initally seem to notice the decrease in bottles and I did give him an extra bottle (just half normal size) a couple of times but after a few days he was quite happy with the new routine.
So in answer to your question about timing of bottles, once you switch the order timing of bottles goes out the window as solids are more important now. You gradually increase the amount of solids you give bubs and since they are having solids first this will fill them up so they shouldn't want as much milk.
