Hi -
this is the first time I have posted!

My little man is 5 weeks old - he is my first, and when I bought him home after 4 nights in the birthing centre, I really had NO idea what I was doing with anything so I used the "oh baby" book as my little bible (my midwife wrote it so I was keen to read it anyway - had read the pregnancy and birth parts pre labour) - her sleep advice is pretty much the same routine as the baby whisperer really. I've been following it from the end of the first week, and it has made my life with a newborn so much better than I thought it was going to! He will grizzle and cry a little for a few minutes when I put him down for day sleeps, but funnily enough, not at all after a night feed (one or two). Personality wise, he is probably closest to a 'textbook baby'.

Mandz, that is soooo cute, I love that you have to make him laugh before he'll fall asleep!!! Awwww

Mistertomsmum, sounds like you hit on a winner - great to hear sleep has worked out so well for you and your baby!

Has anyone used this with a toddler? Just wondering how your baby reacted to the change, we have been doing CC here with me picking Kaelin up in between but after finally getting around to reading the copy of the book, am considering changing to the verbal reassurance. Im trying to figure out if changing will make things worse (they cant be a lot worse) or help us get a result faster

I would imagine to start with they will be worse but you are probably likely to see change a lot quicker using verbal reassurance. I haven't used this with a toddler but you won't know how Kaelin will react until you try.
