Topic: Rolling - or lack of it! Posted: 19 March 2009 at 8:00am |
Ava is 6 months 1 week old and has only rolled 3 times from front to back. She has never rolled from back to front. I give her heaps of floor/tummy time.
Should i be concerned?

No I wouldn't be worried at this stage... esp if she is starting to do it. Developmentally there is a big range which is considered "normal" and she in within that range ... As long as you are providing opportunities which sounds like ya are

no - she has shown that she can do it and is probably working on something else now . I thought that Amy would never roll or crawl but she got there when she was ready and never stops!! Once Ava is rolling you will find that your life is not so simple anymore either . There is a lot to be said for nice still babies!!

Maya never rolled till 7 1/2 mths, she was completely uninterested in moving. Then she crawled at 8 mths and walked at 10 - once she got the idea, she was off! The gremlins were the opposite, rolling from about 8 weeks but didn't crawl till 10 months. And lil miss is just a tornado on 4 limbs...

Its nothing to worry about they roll when they are ready. Dominic took ages to roll and then to crawl, partly because he was (still is) such a big head baby, must have lots of brains!

8 weeks! Holy moly!!
Like the others say, enjoy Ava being in the one spot for a bit longer. I am in no hurry for Jackson to be much more on the move than he is now. Life will be so different.
Jackson has only just started rolling, and in the space of about a week is he rolling, sitting and trying to swim across the floor. It'll happen.

My boy didn't roll consistenly until he'd been crawling for a month or two lol (mind you he was crawling at 5.5 mo). He's never been much of a rolly-polly kid. Some kids choose to focus on different things at different stages. It's the opportunities you give her that are the important thing, and it sounds like you're giving her plenty of those.

Thomas couldnt roll from his back to his front until last month. All babies develop differently!

Hey we have only done it a few times - bubs did it once and then not until a few weeks later the 2nd time. We have only done the back to front once as well. I sometimes sit down with bubs and daggle a toy and we almost get there - but like the others say all bubs are different and they will do things when they want to!
