Hi everyone, so my husband and I are looking at starting a family in the near future. However I currently take seroquel (quatiapine) and sertraline daily. I'm not in a high dosage (75mg combined) but I've tried to come off them before and I get such horrific withdraw symptoms - so have to stay on them for now. My question is, is there anyone else that's gone through pregnancy taking antidepressants and anti anxiety meds?? I've read so much research and it all says it causes such a risk to the baby so I am kind of freaking out and wondering if I should put off trying for a baby until I can come off the meds. Itd be great to know that others have gone through pregnancy taking similar meds and still have a healthy baby? =)
Thanks xx

Hi Emma I don't take any meds but there are heaps of woman who do and continue to do so during pregnancy. There are some meds that are better than others during pregnancy in terms of causing harm to the baby so it's worth going and having a chat to your GP now and discussing what the best option is. It might be a matter of staying what your on or maybe changing to another medication if you still need them.

Hi there, I'm not sure where you are based, but your best bet is to go see your GP and if they're unsure or for more information, ask be referred to maternal mental health for a chat.

I take lithium, and saw maternal mental health in Wellington 18 months ago, before TTC, as my GP knew the risks with lithium, but was unsure of the best way to treat the risk so referred me on, and they were fabulous and very helpful.

Good luck :)
After nearly 3 years TTC, surprise BFP expecting #1 February 16!
