Completely off the TTC topic I know but has anyone had sucess with losing weight via exercise and a balanced diet? I would love to lose about 10kg and don't want to join JC or WW as I belive that don't work in the long run.  I feel so gross at the moment

Sorry can't help sunny.
I am back at WW as I tried doing it on my own and ended putting the 12 kilos I lost back on. Attending meetings each week is the only thing that seems to keep me on track.

There is a thread on weight loss in the general section, if you need any support.

For me losing weight is part of the TTC journey, as it will help with conception and a healthy pregnancy.

Hey Sunny

How much weight are you looking to lose? I'm wanting to lose a little too- 6-10 kilos (although it probably won't end up being more than 6). I just eat my usual healthy way- I'm normally a vegan - the last few years anyway- (vegetarian at the moment) aplus I try to get lots of walks in- and ithe weight falls off generally. It's avoiding the cr*p that DP brings home that I find hard!  Eating vegan makes it a lot harder to eat junk food that's for sure. And once I start getting into all that good heathy food then I go off it anyway- takes about a week for me to lose the desire for Caramello lol.

Anyway that's my secret. Not that I'm very secretive about it- pretty open actually!

sunny, I managed to loose over 10kgs by following a balanced diet and exercise. I wanted to be down to 70kgs by our wedding in Feb this year and got down to 71.1 on our wedding day (I weighed myself on the morning of our wedding just to remind myself how well I had done and it took well over a year to get there)!! Best thing I did was did not drink alcohol!! I cut it out completely, alcohol is soooo bad for any weight loss program.

It is possible and I definately agree that the weight stays off longer by doing it the way you are planning, although this time after the weight loss I got myself preggars so I am back to square one. But last time I lost a heap of weight, it stayed off for well over 2 years with not much maintenance management!

PM me if you like and I can give you a brief overview of what my "eating plan" was like!

Wow EmmeCat, being a vegan is impressive!  The weight loss jounery is always a hard one  I think I am just down about it today and feel like jubba the hut!  Thanks for the offer Peachy I will PM you!  Also thanks fluery for the tip on the other thread I shall hunt it down.  My theory is to keep a small note book and record what I eat and what exercise I undertake everyday.

I find the biggest help is losing weight is no alcohol and drinking at least 5 large glasses of water a day, before every meal and at morning and afternoon tea time. It helped me feel full faster and stopped me from snaking. Hubby and I also made a point of going for a walk after work each night. I didn't change the meals I cooked or anything like that, but I did stop buying chocolate though!

Aargh this no alcohol thing seems to be the theme! Generally I avoid it up to the 2ww but I do like to indulge during AF.  Seems I may have to let it go..

Oh yeah I second the water intake! I was drinking 4 litres per day, and your bladder does get used to it!

If you have good eating habits then you will find it fine losing weight. However if you don't you usually need to be taught them and that is were WW and JC come in. If you need help I would look at WW as you don't have much to lose then it won't cost you all that much if you think you can do it.

There is the weight loss thread in the general section and there you will find a lot of us that are supporting each other with the weight loss.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

WW is so wonderful. It's taught me how to eat properly and the value of exercise. I've lost a total of 36.6kg since starting. I lost 35kg before finally getting pregnant after trying for 4years! I then put on 17 when pregnant and have now lost that plus more. The support and help you get from the meetings is so worth the cost. I wish you the best of luck
